Critical League : Bilan de la semaine 1

La Critical League a débuté la semaine dernière. Après des enchères palpitantes, les huit équipes se sont lancées dans la compétition. Qui a pris le meilleur départ ? Qui a pris du retard ? Qui a créé la surprise ? On voit ça tout de suite dans cet article.

The Critical League kicked off last week. After a thrilling auction, the eight teams got down to business. Who got off to the best start? Who fell behind? Who surprised everyone? We find out in this article.

Résultats

Pour cette première semaine, les Fifty Fifty Freaks de Cicada affrontaient les Salty Suiters d’Empo. Derniers au Power Ranking, les Suiters n’ont pas réussi à tenir tête et essuient une lourde défaite.

Pour cette première semaine, on avait le droit à de très belles affiches. Les Missclick Mashers, 4ème au PR, affrontaient les Good Game Angels, 3ème. Les Angels d’Akalli l’ont emporté 7 à 5, bien aidé par les deux victoires de leur duo Tj & zS en SV OU.

L’autre très grosse affiche concernait les ELO Boosters et les Schedule Demons. Les deux équipes favorites pour la victoire finale s’affrontaient dès la première semaine de compétition ! Les pronostics voyaient plutôt une victoire des Demons mais ce sont le Boosters qui se sont imposés finalement 7-5 ! On notera de leur part un perfect dans les générations récentes (SM, SS, SV et PnB).

Enfin, le premier match nul ne se sera pas fait attendre. Les Bluffing Despots et les Swagplay Harlequins se sont neutralisés et se quittent sur le score de 6-6.

Results

For this first week, Cicada's Fifty Fifty Freaks took on Empo's Salty Suiters. Last in the Power Rankings, the Suiters were unable to hold their own and suffered a heavy defeat.

The first week of the tournament featured some very fine line-ups. The Missclick Mashers, - 4th in the PRs - took on the ‘Good Game’ Angels - which were ranked 3rd. Akalli's Angels won 7-5, led by their duo, TJ & zS, in SV OU.

The other big matchup was between the ELO Boosters and the Schedule Demons. The two teams favored to win it all faced off in the very first week of the tournament! The predictions were that the Demons would win, but the Boosters prevailed in the end, with a narrow victory, 7-5! A fantastic performance, with a perfect score from the players playing the most recent generations (SM, SS, SV, and PnB).

Finally, the Bluffing Despots and the Swagplay Harlequins ended in a draw, with both teams trading back and forth.

Rubyblood

La lourde défaite des Suiters face aux Freaks n’empêche pas les matchs serrés. Ce fut le cas entre Rubyblood et Pasy_g. Les joueurs avaient ramené des teams similaires. Latios, Tyranocif, Démétéros-T et Motisma Lavage des deux côtés. Ruby avait opté pour Noacier Picots en type Plante et Alakazam pour spammer les attaques Psy. De son côté, Pasy était parti sur Célébi pour absorber les statuts et Minotaupe pour profiter de la Tempête de Sable.

Après un early game relativement calme, les kills s’enchainent. En fin de partie, il ne reste plus que Minotaupe et Latios pour Pasy_g face au Démétéros et au Tyranocif de Rubyblood. Démétéros est envoyé pour éliminer le Minotaupe avec Séisme. Pasy anticipe logiquement et va sur Latios. Et là : 50/50. Si Latios reste pour éliminer Démétéros, c’est gagné pour Pasy_g. En revanche, si Rubyblood switch sur Tyranocif et que Latios reste, il l’emporte. Pasy_g décide de switch sur son Minotaupe en anticipant la venue du Tyranocif. Mais Rubyblood l’avait anticipé et avait décidé de refaire Séisme alors que Latios le menaçait ! Il remporte une très belle victoire. Les Fifty Fifty Freaks portent définitivement bien leur nom.

Rubyblood vs Pasy_g English

The Suiters's heavy defeat at the hand of the Freaks didn't prevent close matches. Such was the case between Rubyblood and pasy_g. Booth players had brought similar teams, with Latios, Tyranitar, Landorus-T, and Rotom-W on both sides. Ruby opted for Ferrothorn with Spikes and Alakazam to spam Psychic attacks to round up his team. On the other side of the field, pasy chose to go for Celebi to absorb statuses and Excadrill to take advantage of the Sandstorm.

After a relatively quiet early game, kills began to pile up. By the end of the game, only Excadrill and Latios remained for pasy_g to face Rubyblood's Landorus-T and Tyranitar. Landorus-T was sent to eliminate Excadrill with Earthquake. pasy_g logically anticipated and went for Latios. This resulted in a 50/50. If Latios stayed to kill Landorus-T, pasy won. On the other hand, if Rubyblood switched to Tyranitar and Latios stayed, he won. pasy_g decided to switch to his Excadrill, predicting Tyranitar. But Rubyblood anticipated this and decided to click Earthquake, even though Latios threatened Landorus-T! With the correct prediction, this proved to be a great victory for Rubyblood, proving that the Fifty-Fifty Freaks definitely lived up to their name.

Toujours entre les Suiters et les Freaks, le match entre mimilimi et Lax était étincelant. Côté Lax, on avait ramené un Hoopa terrifiant pour la team de mimilimi. Ses attaques menaçaient le Roigada, le Corvaillus, le Oyacata et le Fort-Ivoire du joueur français. Côté mimilimi, le Kyurem pouvait ravager l’équipe de Lax.

Le match a vite tourné en duel de pivoting. Les pivots offensifs de Lax tentaient de prendre l’avantage sur les pivots défensifs de mimilimi. Dans l’opération, Lax a réussi à poser les Pièges de Roc et mimilimi n’a jamais pu les enlever. C’est ce qui a changé la game. Mimilimi a révélé que son Kyurem ne portait pas les Bottes et ses pivots se faisaient cheap à chaque entrée sur le terrain. Il a dû tenter le tout pour le tout avec son Kyurem Danse Draco mais cela n’a pas suffit pour passer le Zamazenta de Lax. Les Suiters et mimilimi devront montrer plus s’ils veulent gagner la semaine prochaine.

mimilimi vs Lax English

Still between the Suiters and the Freaks, the match between mimilimi and lax was amazing. lax brought Hoopa, which proved to be terrifying for mimilimi's team. His attacks threatened the French player's Slowking, Corviknight, Dondozo, and Great Tusk. On mimilimi’s side, Kyurem could easily cause great damage to lax’s team.

The match quickly turned into a pivoting duel. lax's attacking pivots tried to gain momentum over mimilimi's defensive pivots. In the process, lax successfully set Stealth Rock on the field and mimilimi was never able to remove them. That's what changed the game. mimilimi revealed that his Kyurem wasn't wearing Heavy-Duty Boots and his pivots were getting chipped every time they entered the field. He had to go all out with his Dragon Dance Kyurem, but it wasn't enough to get past lax's Zamazenta. The Suiters and mimilimi will have to show more if they want to win next week.

 

Fabionacci

Le PnB est toujours un tier impressionnant. Les sets improbables qui germent dans la tête des joueurs rendent les matchs électriques et imprévisibles. C’est ce qu’il s’est passé entre Fabionacci et Hiko. La draft était très difficile à analyser. Le Ogerpon de Fabionacci semblait géré par Zamazenta et Lanssorien mais il fallait se méfier de Câlinerie. Lanssorien semblait d’ailleurs menaçant malgré la présence de Scalpereur en face. Pour Fabionacci, la présence de Paume-de-Fer était aussi très embêtante.

Dès le début de la partie, les sets originaux pleuvent. On suspecte le Chef-de-Fer d’être Mouchoir Choix. Mite-de-Fer utilise Toxik sur Ogerpon, Scorvol utilise Demi-Tour etc. C’est le Zamazenta de Hiko qui va faire la différence. Il élimine Scorcol grâce à Crocs Givre, puis tank le Pouvoir Lunaire d’Amovénus pour le mettre K.O. avec Lame de Roc ! Derrière, Paume-de-Fer finit le boulot. Fabionacci a sûrement payé sa préparation trop scolaire et s’incline face à Hiko. Les deux joueurs devront se servir de ce match pour monter en puissance lors du tournoi !

Fabionacci vs Hiko English

PnB is always an impressive tier. The improbable sets that sprout in players' minds make matches all the more electric and unpredictable. That's what happened between Fabionacci and Hiko. The draft was very difficult to analyze. Fabionacci's Ogerpon seemed to be handled by Zamazenta and Dragapult, but both Pokémon had to look out for Play Rough. Dragapult looked threatening despite the presence of Kingambit. For Fabionacci, the presence of Iron Hands was also a real problem.

Right from the start of the game, the original sets rained down. Iron Crown was suspected of being equipped with a Choice Scarf. Iron Moth used Toxic on Ogerpon, Gliscor used U-turn, and so on. It was Hiko's Zamazenta that made the difference. He eliminated Gliscor with Ice Fang, before tanking Enamorus’s Moonblast to knock him out with Stone Edge! Iron Hands then finished the job. Fabionacci has certainly paid for his over-schooled preparation and lost to Hiko. Both players will need to use this match to build up confidence in the tournament!

Le meilleur joueur du monde ne s’est pas fait attendre. Il était le premier à jouer dès mercredi ! Victoire logique grâce à Pyrax et Gorythmic. A noter l’utilisation d’Elektek comme Pokémon de support. Impossible à endormir, spam Toile Elek, Coup d’Main et Par Ici… une belle trouvaille !	Un passage à vide. Voilà ce qui est arrivé à notre joueur français. Sa team Famignol + Courrousinge n’a pas fonctionné. Le premier match du BO3 fut poussif pour lui, même si on a pu voir le potentiel de Courrousinge. Sur le deuxième match, il s’est fait balayer par le Lanssorien et le Pohmarmotte de sempra. Défaite sans conséquences heureusement puisque les Boosters gagnent à la fin. Il faudra faire mieux la semaine prochaine face à Tyo.

Pour son entrée dans la compétition, Nicole s’attaquait à Serpi, le meilleur joueur RBY. C’est un BO3 qu’elle va mener d’une main de maitre. Une première game gagnée grâce à Noadkoko et Leveinard et une deuxième avec un Rhinoféros à 6% de Points de Vie. Si elle continue sur cette lancée, nul doute qu’elle emmènera les Angels très loin.	Annoncé comme le meilleur joueur PnB, Bloodclat devait porter les espoirs des Suiters. Le top 4 du PnB Tournament faisait face à Devin, très bon builder mais inexpérimenté en Pick and Ban. Malheureusement, il s’est effondré à l’image de son équipe pour concéder la défaite. Si les Suiters ne peuvent pas compter sur lui, qui pourra les sauver ?
Nicole's entry into the competition was against Serpi, the best RBY player. It was a BO3 that she masterfully handled. She won her first game with Exeggutor and Chansey, and her second with a Rhydon barely surviving, with 6% HP . If she keeps up the momentum, there's no doubt she'll take the Angels to the promised land.	Announced as the best PnB player, Bloodclat was to carry the Suiters' hopes. The top 4 of the PnB tournament faced Devin, a very good builder but inexperienced in PnB. Unfortunately, he and his team collapsed to concede defeat. If the Suiters can't count on him, who can save them?
TPP et Kebabmlml	Insult, Mimikyu Satrdust et Void
Il fallait être solide et ils l’ont été. En SV OU, TPP et Kebab affrontait A Plague Doctor et Pais. Dans ce duel au sommet entre les Boosters et les Demons, la victoire du duo Kebab/TPP en SV OU a tout changé. Insult était sub côté Demons et il aurait peut-être pu faire la différence. TPP et Kebab peuvent emmener les Boosters très loin. Ils devront confirmer qu’ils sont à la hauteur cette semaine face aux Harlequins.	Rater son schedule, c'est arrivé à beaucoup de joueurs Pokémon. Quand on joue seul, ce n'est pas grave. Quand on défend les couleurs de son équipe, ça devient embêtant. Quand on en est l'un des leaders, c'est carrément un flop ! Insult, Mimikyu Stardust et Void ont raté leur match et leurs subs ont perdu. On rappelle la bonne conduite : On poste son horaire de match sur Discord, on met un réveil sur son téléphone et on ne part pas promener son chien !
They had to be solid, and they were. In SV OU, TPP and Kebab took on A Plague Doc and Pais. In this clash between the Boosters and the Demons, the victory of the Kebab/TPP duo in SV OU changed everything. Insult had to be subbed on the Demons' side, and he surely could have made a difference. TPP and Kebab can be a strong core for the Boosters. They'll have to confirm that they're up to the task this week against the Harlequins.	Many Pokémon players have missed their schedule at least once. When you play alone, it's no big deal. But when you're defending your team's colors, it can be annoying. And when you're one of the leaders, it's a total flop. Insult, Mimikyu Stardust, and Void missed their match and their sub lost. So here’s a reminder on how to proceed: post your match schedule on Discord, put a reminder on your phone and don't go out walking your dog.

Un match au sommet entre deux titans de leur catégorie. MichaelderBeste affronte Marcofiero en VGC. Le finaliste des Worlds 2023 et demi-finaliste 2024 ira défier le vainqueur des Latin America Championships 2024 et top 16 aux Worlds. C’est le match à ne pas manquer cette semaine.

A clash between two titans of their categories. MichaelderBeste takes on Marcofiero in VGC. The 2023 Pokémon World Championships finalist and 2024 semi-finalist will take on the winner of the 2024 Latin America Championships and top 16 in those same Pokémon World Championships. This is the match not to be missed this week.

Duel 100% français au Pick and Ban. RoiDadadou et Hiko s’affrontent dans le tier made in Coup Critique. Les deux joueurs ont percé au tournoi PnB en début d’année et ont tous les deux remporté leur BO3 la semaine dernière sans trembler. Pour les Boosters comme pour les Harlequins, le résultat de ce match est primordial pour réussir cette semaine.

French on French action in PnB: RoiDadadou and Hiko face off in the tier created by Coup Critique. C’est un match qui pourrait passer sous les radars. En ADV OU, Fakes affronte SEA. Les deux favoris du tier se rencontrent et ça risque de faire des étincelles ! SEA n’a pas tremblé la semaine dernière et a joué un rôle crucial dans la courte victoire des Angels. De son côté, Fakes a réussi à garder la tête hors de l’eau alors que son équipe était en plein naufrage face aux Freaks. Les deux joueurs sont des éléments importants de leurs équipes respectives. Ils devront donner le meilleur d’eux-mêmes cette semaine pour défendre leurs couleurs.

Fakes vs SEA English

It's a match that could fly under the radar. In ADV OU, Fakes takes on SEA. The two favorites of the tier meet, and there's every chance of sparks flying! SEA didn't waver last week and played a crucial role in the Angels' narrow victory. For his part, Fakes managed to keep his head above water when his team was sinking against the Freaks. Both players are important parts of their respective teams. They'll have to give their all this week to defend their colors.
