Les joueurs de la Critical League ont enfin été choisis par leurs capitaines parmi les inscrits, réunissant des compétiteurs de tous tiers et générations, motivés par le gain et la gloire. Qu'ils soient des habitués de la scène ou des nouveaux venus prêts à créer la surprise, nous allons vous les présenter dans ce classement, rédigé par nos soins avec l'aide précieuse de contributeurs externes. Rappelons que les 8 équipes, composées chacune de 16 joueurs, s'affronteront chaque semaine, et seules les 4 meilleures se qualifieront pour les Playoffs. Que la meilleure équipe triomphe !

Présentation de l'équipe
Pour sa première expérience en tant que Manager, Empo n’a pas fait les choses à moitié. En recrutant une bande de joueurs aux personnalités et aux statuts controversés, le meilleur joueur du monde endosse fièrement le costume de l’antagoniste du tournoi. Mais ça ne les rend pas faibles pour autant. Parce que lorsque les forces du mal allient leurs pouvoirs, la résultante peut donner lieu à un cocktail totalement explosif. Dans un sens, comme dans l’autre. Commençons d’abord par les valeurs sûres de cette armada de l’enfer. En 9G, Empo a fait le pari d’opter pour la jeunesse en choisissant le récent demi-finaliste de l’OST, Thiago Nunes, et le génial Builder français mimilimi, actuellement en Playoffs de l’OLT. Ce duo peut frapper très fort, surtout en y ajoutant toute l’expertise de leur Manager qui pourra apporter ce petit surplus d’expérience que les deux pépites n’ont pas encore. Si les deux prennent un bon départ et qu’ils gagnent rapidement confiance, nous allons peut-être assister à l’éclosion de deux futurs monstres de la scène compétitive. En plus de ça, SpookyZ et Ahsan219, respectivement titulaires en 8G et en 7G, se sont eux aussi qualifiés pour les phases finales de l’OLT, et pourront ainsi offrir un soutien non négligeable à leurs protégés. En ce qui les concerne, SpookyZ et Ahsan219 sont des joueurs solides et confirmés, particulièrement Ahsan qui enchaîne les très bonnes performances depuis plusieurs années. Tous deux excellent dans l’art du TeamBuilding, et ils pourront toujours compter sur Empo pour peaufiner certains détails. Mais puisqu’il semblerait que la caractéristique principale pour être éligible chez les Suiters est d’être un As du Builder, parlons un peu de pasy_G, Bloodclat et Fakes qui eux non plus sont loin d’être ridicules dans ce domaine. À l’image de leurs profils de têtes brûlées, ces trois-là sont totalement imprévisibles tant leur répertoire de possibilités est immense. Fakes et Bloodclat sont même d’une certaine manière les Leaders techniques de cette équipe, et leur réussite hebdomadaire sera indispensable pour espérer décrocher une place dans le dernier carré, si d’ici-là la moitié de l'effectif n’a pas été bannie évidemment. Parce que le reste de la composition des Suiters offre nettement moins de garanties. Dans le lot, JabbaTheGriffin est celui qui semble le plus en mesure de récolter un score positif, mais son absence prolongée en 4G, on parle quand même de plus de 10 ans, pose forcément un flou avant ses premiers matchs. Tandis qu’en 6G, 2G et 1G, nagoL, Alice Kazumi et Sayuze sont presque des novices à ce niveau-là. Ça risque même d’être une lente agonie pour Sayuze qui est pratiquement envoyé à la mort dans le groupe le plus relevé du tournoi. Enfin pour finir, Damo devrait pouvoir assurer quelques précieuses victoires, même si ses meilleurs résultats ont tous été obtenus avant la 9G. Sur le banc, les options sont plus limitées, même si Mielke pourrait éventuellement remplacer Fakes en 3G si jamais l’allemand était contraint de basculer dans un autre Tier. Il y a fort à parier que Thiago Nunes finisse par atterrir en RBY d’ici peu de temps, forçant Ahsan ou SpookyZ à changer de Tier pour récupérer la place vacante en SV. Ou bien leng loi fera alors ses grands débuts. Une chose est sûre, cette association de voyous promet des étincelles !

Mimilimi
SV OU
Mimilimi est un génie, souvent pour le meilleur, parfois pour le pire. Il est indéniablement l’un des Builders les plus créatifs que le jeu n’ait jamais connu avec une panoplie de Pokémons illimitée. Le Ben Gay français est aussi l'un des meilleurs joueurs du monde en SV OU, comme l’atteste sa récente qualification aux Playoffs de l’Official Ladder Tournament et sa 12e place actuelle au classement général Coup Critique. Après avoir honoré sa première sélection avec la team France cette année, il fera tout pour s'imposer à la Critical League. Sous la houlette d’Empo, Mimilimi se voit offrir une chance unique dans sa carrière de passer un cap majeur dans sa transformation en monstre.
Thiago Nunes
SV OU
Révélation de ce début d’année avec une demi-finale à l’Official Smogon Tournament, Thiago Nunes cherche un second souffle. Après une SPL en demi-teinte (3V-4D), le joueur brésilien a réalisé une bonne performance en WCOP avec 2 victoires en 3 rencontres. Une nouvelle fois titulaire en SV, Thiago endossera le rôle de Leader au sein de son équipe. Un costume taillé pour lui, ou trop lourd à porter ?
Spookyz
SS OU
Grand Aficionado du Ladder, SpookyZ se qualifie quasi systématiquement aux Playoffs de l’OLT depuis 2021. Cette année ne fera pas exception. Expert en 8G et en 9G, le joueur canadien n’a que très peu souvent pu mettre à contribution son expérience en tournoi par équipes. Et si la Critical League changeait la donne ? Absent en WCOP et en SPL cette année, SpookyZ est titulaire en SS dans une poule extrêmement relevée. En espérant que cette expérience ne le dégoûte pas totalement des Team Tours.
Ahsan219
SM OU
Ahsan est un joueur insaisissable. Capable d’avoir des fulgurances, comme des trous d’air incompréhensibles, il est souvent assez difficile de prédire quoique ce soit avec lui. Builder très créatif et polyvalent de la 7G à la 9G, c’est parfois sur le terrain que le britannique peut être sur courant alternatif. Non pas parce qu’il est limité techniquement, mais parce qu’il est régulièrement coupable de craquages sur le plan mental. Après avoir terminé 1er à la saison régulière du Smogon Tour cette saison, il s’est écroulé dès les 1/8e de finale. Très souvent dans le Top 16 des tournois majeurs, Ahsan n’a pas encore réussi à passer ce palier qui lui permettrait d’aller décrocher un premier titre. C’est souvent en Team Tour que les déclics ont lieu, alors pourquoi pas lui ?
Nagol
ORAS OU
Pris dans un imbroglio au cours des enchères, nagoL a finalement été recruté à la place de cleann. Et pas pour être remplaçant. Titulaire en 6G, son palmarès général est tout bonnement vide, mais son Manager lui voue une confiance aveugle. En même temps, nagoL fait partie du staff qui a permis à Empo d’atteindre les sommets. Du coup, simple reconnaissance ou réel choix technique ?
Pasy_g
BW OU
Exclu de Smogon depuis plusieurs années, pasy_G trouve refuge dans les événements parallèles au site américain. Particulièrement reconnu pour son excellent niveau en Old Gens, l’allemand est un joueur dangereux pour n’importe qui. Soutenu par celui qui est vraisemblablement l’un des meilleurs joueurs BW actuel, son compatriote Fakes, pasy_G espère faire un retour marqué en Team Tour, 6 ans après sa dernière apparition.
JabbaTheGriffin
DPP OU
Il y a des chances que certains d’entre vous n’étaient pas encore en capacité de lire quand Jabba a débuté sa carrière sur Smogon, en 2007. Avant de devenir un joueur spécialiste de la 3G, il a été l’une des figures majeures de la scène compétitive lors de l’époque 4G. Pourtant, 17 ans plus tard, Jabba n’a toujours pas remporté le moindre tournoi majeur, aussi bien en individuel qu’en équipes. Sur cette CCL, il a décidé de revenir sur sa génération d’origine. Alors on est en droit de se demander où Jabba se situe par rapport au Metagame actuel et aux nouvelles exigences du Tier. Mais avec un peu de soutien et une petite mise à jour, l’ancien rival d’Earthworm, panamaxis, Atticus et consor devrait rapidement se remettre en selle.
Fakes
ADV OU
Fakes est l’un des vétérans de ce tournoi. Inscrit sur Smogon depuis 2011, le joueur allemand est un touche à tout mais il excelle particulièrement dans les Old Gens. De la 3G à la 5G, Fakes est capable de battre n’importe qui. Le vainqueur de la Smogon Premier League 2018 est même qualifié pour les Playoffs du Smogon Classic, prouvant bien qu’il est encore largement compétitif. Après une performance de haute volée cette saison en SPL et un record de 9V-2D en battant au passage trois fois Soulwind (dont deux en demi-finale), le germanique s’avance comme le favori de son groupe en 3G. Mais au-delà de ça, dans un tournoi comme la Critical League avec autant de Tiers différents, un taulier comme Fakes est un atout certain pour n’importe quelle équipe.
Alice Kazumi
GSC OU
Réputée ‘Main Stickers’, Alice Kazumi est une joueuse Old Gens présente sur Smogon depuis 2015 mais qui n’a pas encore réussi à s’imposer sur le circuit principal. L’a-t-elle seulement chercher ? Son recrutement inattendu est un pari audacieux. Mais son Manager a peut-être vu en elle un potentiel qui ne demande qu’à exploser.
Sayuze
RBY OU
Le coupable idéal pour n’importe quel problème sur Smogon. Depuis des années, quand on parle de Sayuze, il est plutôt question de magouilles que de performances. Pourtant, l’américain est loin d’être un manchot en Fairy Gens. Malheureusement, pour différentes raisons, c’est en RBY qu’il va devoir jouer lors de cette Critical League. Et évidemment, il n’y a tout simplement aucun repère. Envoyé au casse-pipe dans le groupe le plus féroce du tournoi, Sayuze risque de servir de punching-ball à Serpi et consor.
Damo
VGC
Joueur chevronné du VGC avec un historique de performances solides, Damo espère se rappeler au bon souvenir de la 6G. En 2015, il atteint le Top 8 du Nugget Bridge Major IV, confirmant son potentiel parmi les meilleurs. En 2016, il se classe de nouveau dans les 8 premiers au Régional d'Innsbruck. Plus récemment, en 2020, Damo a obtenu une 8e place à la « Champions Cup », tournoi organisé par Wolfe Glick et aDrive où de nombreux talents du VGC étaient réunis. Cette année, il a participé au Barcelona Special Event, sans vraiment briller (40e). Bien que ses résultats récents ne soient pas aussi marquants que dans le passé, son expérience et sa capacité à performer sous pression font de lui un adversaire à ne pas sous-estimer.
Bloodclat
PnB
Bloodclat est une énigme. Banni depuis 2021 de Smogon alors qu’il n’avait que 21 ans, le très prometteur américain a continué malgré tout de jouer beaucoup sur le Ladder en 8G et maintenant en 9G. Très versatile, Bloodclat peut tout jouer, ce qui le rend particulièrement imprévisible. C’est encore plus vrai dans un Tier comme le SV avec le Téracristal. Mais ses qualités sont encore plus sublimées dans le format Pick’n’Ban où la créativité et l’adaptation sont les armes principales des joueurs. Une récente 3e place au Pick’n’Ban Tournament et voilà Bloodclat comme le potentiel épouvantail de ce tournoi.

For his first experience as a manager, Empo didn't do things by halves. By recruiting a bunch of players with controversial personalities and statuses, the world's best player proudly takes on the mantle of tournament antagonist. But that doesn't make them weak. Because when the forces of evil combine their powers, the result can be a totally explosive cocktail. In both directions. Let's start with the best of this hellish armada. In SV, Empo has opted for youth, choosing recent OST semi-finalist Thiago Nunes, and the brilliant French Builder mimilimi, currently in OLT playoffs. This duo can hit the ground running, especially if they add the expertise of their manager, who can bring that little bit of extra experience that the two nuggets don't yet have. If both get off to a good start and quickly gain confidence, we could be witnessing the emergence of two future monsters of the competitive scene. On top of this, SpookyZ and Ahsan219, slotted SS and SM respectively, have also qualified for OLT playoffs, and will be able to offer their protégés considerable support in SV. As far as they're concerned, SpookyZ and Ahsan219 are solid, proven players, especially Ahsan, who has been putting in a string of excellent performances over the last few years. They also excel in the art of team building, and can always count on Empo to fine-tune certain details. But since it would seem that the main qualification for Suiters is to be a renown builder, let's talk about pasy_g, Bloodclat, and Fakes, who are also far from ridiculous in this field. These three are totally unpredictable, as their repertoire of possibilities is immense. Fakes and Bloodclat are, in a way, the technical leaders of this team, and their weekly success will be essential if they are to hope for a place in semi-finals - if half the squad has not been banned by then, of course. Because the rest of the Suiters' line-up offers far fewer guarantees. Among them, JabbaTheGriffin is the one who seems most likely to score positively, but his prolonged absence in DPP - we're talking over 10 years, after all - inevitably poses a blur before his first matches. Whereas in ORAS, GSC, and RBY, nagoL, Alice Kazumi, and Sayuze are almost novices at this level. It may even be slow agony for Sayuze, who is virtually sent to his death in the tournament's toughest group. Finally, Damo should be able to secure some precious victories, even if his best results were all achieved before the release of SV. On the bench, options are more limited, although Mielke could eventually replace Fakes in ADV if the German were ever forced to switch to another tier. It's a safe bet that Thiago Nunes will end up in RBY before long, forcing Ahsan or SpookyZ to switch tier to fill the vacant SV spot. Or else leng loi could make their grand debut. One thing's for sure, this association of thugs promises sparkles to fly!

Mimilimi is a genius, often for the better, sometimes for the worst. He is undeniably one of the most creative builders the game has ever known with an unlimited array of Pokémon. The French Ben Gay is also one of the best SV OU players in the world, as evidenced by his recent qualification to the Official Ladder Tournament playoffs and his current 12th place in the overall Coup Critique rankings. After honoring his first selection with Team France this year, he will do everything in his power to make a mark in the Critical League. Under Empo’s guidance, Mimilimi is offered a unique opportunity in his career to take a major step forward in his transformation into a monster.

A revelation at the start of the year with a semi-finals finish in the Official Smogon Tournament, Thiago Nunes is looking for a second wind. After a lackluster SPL with a 3-4 record, the Brazilian player put in a good performance in WCOP with 2 wins in 3 matches. Once again a starter in SV, Thiago will take on the role of team leader. Is it a suit made for him, or will it be too heavy to wear?
Spookyz
SS OU
A great ladder fiend, SpookyZ has qualified for almost every OLT playoffs since 2021. This year will be no exception. An expert in SS and SV, the Canadian player has rarely been able to call on his experience in team tournaments. But what if the Critical League changes all that? Absent from this year's WCOP and SPL, SpookyZ is a starter in SS in an extremely tough pool. Let's hope this experience doesn't put him off team tours altogether.
Ahsan219
SM OU
Ahsan is an elusive player. It's often quite difficult to predict anything with him, as he is capable of flashes of brilliance, like incomprehensible brain farts. He is a highly creative and versatile builder in SM, SS, and SV, but it's sometimes in-game that the Brit can be on alternating current. Not because he's technically limited, but because he's regularly guilty of mental breakdowns. After finishing 1st in the Smogon Tour regular season this year, he collapsed in round 1. Often in the Top 16 of major tournaments, Ahsan has yet to reach the milestone that would enable him to win his first title. It's often on team tours that triggers occur, so why not him?
Nagol
ORAS OU
Caught up in an imbroglio during the auction, nagoL was finally recruited to replace cleann. And not to sit on the bench, mind you, but as a starter in ORAS, where his overall track record is quite simply empty. Still, his manager trusts him blindly. At the same time, nagoL is part of the team that helped Empo reach the top. So, simple recognition or real technical choice? Only time will tell.
Pasy_g
BW OU
Excluded from Smogon for several years, pasy_G, he finds refuge in the parallel events of the American website. Particularly renowned for his Old Gens skills, the German is a dangerous player for anyone. Supported by who is arguably one of the best current BW players, his compatriot Fakes, pasy_G hopes to make a strong comeback on Team Tour, 6 years after his last appearance.
JabbaTheGriffin
DPP OU
Chances are, some of you weren't yet able to read when Jabba began his career on Smogon, back in 2007. Before becoming a dedicated ADV player, he was one of the leading figures on the competitive scene during the DPP era. Yet, 17 years later, Jabba has yet to win a single major tournament, either individually or as part of a team. In this CCL, he has decided to return to his generation of choice. So it's fair to wonder where Jabba stands in relation to today's metagame and the new demands of the tier. But with a little support and a little time to get up to speed, the former rival of Earthworm, panamaxis, Atticus, and others should soon be back in the saddle.
Fakes
ADV OU
Fakes is one of the veterans of this tournament. Registered on Smogon since 2011, the German player is a jack of all trades, but he particularly excels in old gens. From ADV to BW, Fakes can beat anyone. The winner of the Smogon Premier League has even qualified for the Smogon Classic playoffs, proving that he is still highly competitive. After an outstanding performance this season in SPL with a 9-2 record, beating Soulwind three times in the process (including twice in the semi-finals), the German is the favorite in the ADV pool. But beyond that, in a tournament like the Critical League, with so many different tiers, an all-rounder like Fakes is definitely an asset for his team.
Alice Kazumi
GSC OU
Known as a 'main stickers', Alice is an Old Gens player who has been present on Smogon since 2015 but has yet to make her mark on the main circuit. Has she even looked for it? Her unexpected recruitment is a bold gamble. But perhaps his manager saw in her a potential that was just waiting to explode.
Sayuze
RBY OU
The ideal culprit for any problem on Smogon. For years now, when people talk about Sayuze, they’re more likely to talk about shenanigans than performances. Yet, the American is far from being clumsy in Fairy Gens. Unfortunately, for various reasons, he will have to play in RBY in this Critical League. And of course, he has simply no landmark. Sent to be like a lamb to the slaughter in the fiercest group of the tournament, Sayuze risks being used as a punching bag by Serpi and consor.
Damo
VGC
Seasoned VGC player with a solid performance history, Damo hopes to recall his Gen 6 period. He reached the top 8 of the Nugget Bridge Major IV in 2015, confirming his potential among the best. In 2016, he again showed his skill by placing in the top 8 of the Innsbruck regional. More recently, in 2020, Damo finished in the top 8 of the “Champions Cup” organized by Wolfe Glick and aDrive, a prestigious tournament that attracted many talented players. In 2024, he took part in the Barcelona Special Event, placing 40th. Although his recent results aren't as impressive, his experience and ability to perform under pressure make him an opponent not to be underestimated.
Bloodclat
PnB
Bloodclat is an enigma. Banned since 2021 from Smogon when he was only 21, the very promising American has nevertheless continued to play a lot on SS and SV ladders ever since. A very versatile player, Bloodclat can play anything, which makes him particularly unpredictable, which is even truer in a tier like SV with Terastalization. But his qualities are even more enhanced in the Pick’n’Ban format where creativity and adaptation are players’ main weapons. A recent 3rd place in the Pick’n’Ban Tournament proves that Bloodclat is one of the potential threats of this tournament.

Fifty Fifty Freaks Français
Présentation de l'équipe
Emmenés par le capitaine de l’équipe de France championne du monde, les Fifty Fifty Freaks ont une fibre très francophone. Avec pas moins de 7 joueurs dont la langue maternelle est le français, Cicada a clairement opté pour un environnement sur lequel il aura une maîtrise totale. Mais les Freaks portent bien leur nom puisqu’ils auront pour Leader l'insaisissable lax. Le charismatique américain est la star de ce tournoi et il aura la lourde tâche d’assumer un rôle qu’il n’a pas nécessairement l’habitude de porter lorsqu’il joue en SPL et en WCOP. Mais son statut a changé depuis sa victoire à l’OLT en 2023. Et jusque-là, on ne peut pas dire qu’il ait été inhibé par la pression : 10 victoires en 15 matches en 2024, SPL et WCOP combinées, soit le 7e meilleur score de l’année. Sur le plan individuel, on n’est pas trop inquiet pour lax, en revanche il est légitime de se demander s’il va investir beaucoup de son temps pour aider ses coéquipiers. Et quand on voit la relative inexpérience de certains, il y a matière à s’inquiéter pour les Freaks. Eko et Sharow ont un vécu fragile à ce niveau, tandis que 3d, devin et GeeMick manquent cruellement de repères. D’ailleurs, il est très étonnant de voir que le français a été préféré à Spl4sh, mais il ne serait pas surprenant que le brésilien reprenne sa place de titulaire très rapidement. En 8G, Ayk n’offre pas beaucoup plus de certitudes. Le champion du monde 2022 est sur le retour après avoir été absent pendant plus d’un an et demi, et personne ne sait vraiment où il en est. Pas même lui sûrement. Et quand on connaît le personnage, on souhaite à Cicada que les premières semaines se passent bien pour les Freaks, sinon il va probablement devoir trouver un remplaçant en SS. Ça tombe bien, Kustavan est en embuscade. Le jeune californien peut venir suppléer à tout moment en 7G et en 8G, au cas où ça se passerait mal pour la fratrie Smashers. En revanche, côté Old Gens, les Freaks ont des bases très solides. Peasounay est revenu à son meilleur niveau en RBY, Rubyblood est en forme actuellement en BW comme l’atteste sa récente finale au BW Global Championship, et les jeunes loups Vani et charizardsnuts sont très respectés dans leur génération mutuelle. Le joueur belge pourra d’ailleurs apporter toute son expertise du GSC pour préparer au mieux l’actuel titulaire dans le Tier. Mais sa polyvalence permet surtout une rotation en 7G, avec le vétéran Méridian pour venir le remplacer en 5G. En VGC, MarcoFiero n’a plus besoin d’être présenté. Au sortir d’un Top 16 aux Worlds, les Freaks comptent énormément sur les performances de l’icône italienne pour aller loin dans ce tournoi. Au final, les Freaks jouent à pile ou face. Des choix risqués, des Leaders forcés de s’imposer quasi chaque semaine dans des poules très relevées, et une profondeur de banc permettant de s’autoriser des coups de poker.

Reconnu à juste titre comme étant l’un des joueurs les plus talentueux de l’histoire de Pokémon, Lax risque bien d’être l’attraction principale de ce tournoi. Enfin titré individuellement après avoir remporté l’OLT l’année dernière, le génial américain est désormais libéré d’un poids. Souvent éclipsé par le légendaire Lavos quand ils ont formé l’un des duos les plus iconiques de Smogon qui leur ont permis de remporter coup sur coup la WCOP et la SPL la même année, Lax est maintenant une star à part entière. Son immense popularité résonnera bien au-delà du cadre de la CCL, peu importe le Tier dans lequel il sera titularisé. Ne loupez ce spectacle hebdomadaire pour rien au monde.

Fervent représentant du Cherk, plus connu sous le nom du “Discord des Bannis”, 3d continue de progresser lentement mais sûrement. Qualifié pour les Playoffs de l’OLT cette saison, 2 ans après sa première apparition lors de l’édition 2022, il a également réussi à faire taire ses détracteurs en obtenant un honorable record de 5V-4D en SPL en début d’année alors qu’il était considéré comme le moins bon joueur de la poule par la communauté. Le message est passé, maintenant il va falloir confirmer.
Ayk
SS OU
Une bombe à retardement. Comment décrire Ayk autrement ? Joueur talentueux, énergique, et également colérique, le flamboyant tricolore est impliqué émotionnellement à 100% dans tout ce qu’il fait. Et ça peut faire des étincelles. Le vainqueur de la Coupe du Monde 2022 avait été moins dans la lumière que certains de ses coéquipiers, mais il avait su surfer sur cette victoire historique en atteignant le Top 16 de l’OLT et du Smogon Tour la même année. Plus connu sur la scène Smash que sur la scène Pokémon, le grand frère d’Ayk affectionne de participer de temps en temps à des tournois qui le motivent. Eko sait très bien jouer à Pokémon, indéniablement puisque c’est lui qui a introduit son petit frangin champion du monde à la compétition. Mais comme souvent dans une fratrie, c’est le cadet qui prend tous les éloges de la famille. Alors allons-nous assister au premier coup d’éclat dans la carrière Pokémon d’Eko ?

ORAS OU
Annoncé comme le successeur des Reymedy, Boudouche et compagnie, GeeMick n’a jamais semblé intéressé par les paillettes et les trophées. Extrêmement prometteur, le timide petit génie de la 6G ne possède comme référence sur Smogon que la WCOP et la SPL entre 2015 et 2017. Depuis, plus rien. Enfin sur Smogon. Parce que sur la scène nationale, GeeMick semble s’épanouir. Son fait d’arme principal ? Un Monaflémit en finale d’un des plus gros tournois par équipes français pour un hommage à son pseudo et un scandale sans précédent. Mais si GeeMick prend les choses au sérieux, alors celui qui a rivalisé avec ABR en Tie Break de SPL va faire beaucoup de dégâts.
Rubyblood
BW OU
Un colosse aux pieds d’argile. Rubyblood est un joueur au talent indéniable associé à une fragilité mentale au moins aussi importante. Mais avec une victoire en SPL 2024 au cours de laquelle il a su renverser un départ cataclysmique (1V-5D en SV -> 3V-1D en GSC), une WCOP taille patron (3V-0D en SV), et une impressionnante SCL 2023 (6V-3D en SV), le belge a prouvé qu'il était en mesure d’aller titiller les sommets. À ce propos, il s’est hissé l’année dernière dans le Top 16 de l’OLT. Sur cette Critical League, Rubyblood a décidé de s’aligner en BW. Un Tier pour lequel il est moins réputé mais néanmoins tout aussi performant. D’ailleurs, il vient d’atteindre la finale du BW Global Championship il y a de ça un mois. Prudence donc.
Sharow
DPP OU
Un potentiel qui mériterait d’être mis dans la lumière. Sharow a des résultats dignes d’un joueur de classe mondiale sur le circuit secondaire. Vainqueur du DPP Global Championship et de la SM OU Cup en 2023, le français enchaîne depuis plusieurs années des performances impressionnantes en Old Gens. Toujours en 2023, il atteint la finale du DPP Winter Seasonal et le Top 4 du ORAS Global Championship. Un an auparavant, c’est un Top 6 au DPP Summer Seasonal. Vous avez saisi l’idée ? Sharow est un excellent joueur qui n’est pas reconnu à sa juste valeur parce qu’il lui manque un coup d’éclat en Majeur. La Critical League n’attend que ça.
Charizardsnuts
ADV OU
Étoile montante de la 3G, charizardsnuts est la nouvelle terreur du Circuit ADV. Vainqueur de l'ADV Winter Seasonal sans concéder le moindre match, il s’est ensuite illustré par deux fois en allant chercher des records de 5V-3D en ADVPL et de 5V-2D en RoAPL. Désormais, c’est à la CCL qu’il s’attaque. Et s’il est aussi incontrôlable que le Dracaufeu de Sacha, ses adversaires s’exposent à une sacrée déflagration.
Vani
GSC OU
Fanatique inconditionnel de la 2G, Vani est une personnalité reconnue dans le paysage du GSC. Vainqueur du GSC Summer Seasonal en 2022 et Top 4 de ce même tournoi lors de l’édition précédente, l’allemand offre une certaine sécurité dans le Tier. Enfin sélectionné en SPL après un impressionnant 7V-1D en GSCPL 2023, Vani a obtenu un score respectable de 5 victoires pour 5 défaites. Cet épisode digéré, il a maintenant l’occasion de s’imposer réellement.
Peasounay
RBY OU
L’ancien meilleur joueur du monde en RBY a repris du service en 2024. Récent vainqueur du RBY Global Championship, 7 ans après sa première victoire dans ce même tournoi, Peasounay a retrouvé un second souffle dans le Tier et il y est de nouveau extrêmement performant. Mais la Poule RBY est terrifiante, et elle continue de s’étoffer chaque année avec des joueurs de très haut niveau. La marge du joueur français n’est plus aussi élevée qu’elle ne l’était en 2017 où il avait écrasé la concurrence en SPL avec un record de 8V-1D. Mais son talent et sa forme actuelle lui permettront sans doute de faire partie des hommes forts de la 1G dans cette CCL.

VGC
Une légende pour certains, un Goat pour d’autres, Marco Silva, alias Marcofiero, est de retour après son top 16 aux championnats du monde 2024 et dans sa meilleure forme. Joueur de VGC depuis 2016 et vainqueur du LAIC 2024, notre jeune joueur se démarque bien de ses concurrents. Entre coaching et tournois, en plus d’être une voix très écoutée en Italie, notre passionné va tout donner pour essayer de faire trembler ses opposants. Forza Italia !
Devin
PnB
Devin est l’un des meilleurs Builders au monde. Comment ? Vous ne me croyez pas ? Et si je vous dis qu’il est le Builder personnel d’Empo depuis des années et que ce dernier doit son succès en grande partie à lui. Est-ce que maintenant vous me croyez ? Mais Devin n’est pas qu’un exceptionnel Builder, c’est aussi un très bon joueur. Demi finaliste de l’Official Ladder Tournament en 2021 en 8G, il est aussi capable de grandes choses sur le terrain. Il est certain que l’équipe qui le recrutera va bénéficier d’un soutien majuscule en Fairy Gens, mais il faudra aussi compter sur lui pour ramener des victoires précieuses.
Fifty Fifty Freaks English
Team's Presentation
Led by the previous captain of Team France, world champion under his tenure, the Fifty Fifty Freaks have a very Francophone streak. With no fewer than 7 players whose mother tongue is French, Cicada has clearly opted for an environment over which he will have total control. But the Freaks are aptly named, as their leader is the elusive lax. The charismatic American is the star of this tournament, and he'll have the onerous task of assuming a role he's not necessarily used to playing in SPL and WCOP. But his status has changed since he won OLT in 2023. And so far, he hasn't been inhibited by the pressure: 10 wins in 15 matches in 2024, SPL and WCOP combined, the 7th best score of the year. On an individual level, we're not too worried about lax, but it's legitimate to wonder whether he'll invest much of his time in helping his teammates. And when you see the relative inexperience of some of them, there's plenty to worry about for the Freaks. Eko and Sharrow have a fragile experience in this area, while 3d, devin, and GeeMick are sorely lacking points of reference. Incidentally, it's very surprising to see that the latter mentioned has been preferred to Spl4sh, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the Brazilian back in the starting line-up very soon. In SS, ayk doesn't offer much more certainty. The 2022 world champion is back after being absent for over a year and a half, and nobody really knows where he stands. Not even him, surely. And when you know ayk, you wish Cicada that the first few weeks go well for the Freaks, otherwise he'll probably have to find a replacement in SS. And just in time, Kustavan is lying in ambush. The young Californian can fill in at any time in SM and SS, just in case things go badly for the Smashers brothers. On the other hand, on the old gens side, the Freaks have a very solid foundation. Peasounay is back to his best in RBY, Rubyblood is in top form in BW, as evidenced by his recent final in the BW Global Championship, and young wolves Vani and charizardsnuts are highly respected in their respective tiers. The Belgian player will be able to bring all his GSC expertise to help the current starter in the tier. But above all, his versatility means he can be rotated into SM, with veteran Meridian replacing him in BW. In VGC, MarcoFiero needs no introduction. Rightly recognized as one of the most talented players in Pokémon history, lax is likely to be the main attraction of this tournament. Having finally won an individual title after winning OLT last year, the American genius is now free of a burden. Often overshadowed by the legendary Lavos when they formed one of Smogon's most iconic duos, winning back-to-back WCOP and SPL titles in the same year, lax is now a star in his own right. His immense popularity will resonate far beyond CCL, no matter which tier he's slotted in. Be sure to be there for the weekly show.

A fervent representative of Cherk, a discord server in which numerous banned deucers roam free, 3d continues to progress slowly but surely. Qualified for the OLT playoffs this season, 2 years after his first appearance in the 2022 edition, he also managed to silence his detractors by achieving an honorable 5-4 record in this year’s SPL, when he was considered the worst player in the pool by the community. The message has got through, now it's time to confirm it.
Ayk
SS OU
A ticking time bomb. How else to describe ayk? Talented, energetic, and also quick-tempered, the flamboyant Frenchman is 100% emotionally involved in everything he does. And that can make sparks fly. The 2022 World Cup winner had been less in the spotlight than some of his teammates, but he was able to build on this historic victory by reaching the top 16 in both OLT and Smogon Tour in the same year. As with Corazan, the question is not so much whether ayk will succeed in performing, but whether he will acclimatize to his environment. And if it does, then he's likely to smash the competition.

Better known on the Smash scene than on the Pokémon scene, ayk's big brother likes to take part from time to time in tournaments that motivate him. Eko knows how to play Pokémon, undeniably, since he's the one who introduced his little brother, the world champion, to the competition. But as is often the case with siblings, it's the younger brother who gets all the praise. So, are we about to witness the first major breakthrough in Eko's Pokémon career?

Advertised as the successor to Reymedy, Boudouche, and others, GeeMick has never seemed interested in glitter and trophies. Extremely promising, the shy ORAS genius only has old WCOP and SPL as references on Smogon, between 2015 and 2017. Since then, nothing. At least on Smogon. Because on the national scene, GeeMick seems to be blossoming. His main feat? A Slacking in the finals of one of France's biggest team tournaments as a tribute to his nickname, ending in an unprecedented scandal. But if GeeMick takes things seriously, then the man who rivaled ABR in SPL's tie break is going to do a lot of damage.

Yet with a victory in SPL 2024 during which he managed to reverse a cataclysmic start (1W-5L in SV -> 3W-1L in GSC), a perfect world cup (3V-0D in SV), the Belgian proved he's up to tickle the summit. In this regard, last year he raised himself into the OLT Top 16. In this Critical League, Rubyblood has decided to line up in BW. A Tier for which he is less renowned, but nevertheless just as effective. In fact, he reached the BW Global Championship finals a month ago. So watch out.

A potential that deserves to be brought to light. Sharow's results on the secondary circuit are worthy of a world-class player. Winner of the DPP Global Championship and the SM OU Cup in 2023, the Frenchman has put in a string of impressive performances in Old Gens over the past few years. Also in 2023, he reached the final of the DPP Winter Seasonal and the Top 4 of the ORAS Global Championship. A year earlier, it was a Top 6 at the DPP Summer Seasonal. Did you get the idea? An ADV rising star, charizardsnuts is the new terror of the ADV Circuit. He won the last ADV Winter Seasonal without conceding a single match, before posting positive records in ADVPL and RoAPL - 5-3 and 5-2 respectively. Now he's tackling CCL,and if he's as uncontrollable as Ash’s Charizard, his opponents are in for one hell of a blast.
Vani
GSC OU
An unconditional Gen 2 fanatic, Vani is a well-known figure on the GSC scene. Winner of the GSC Summer Seasonal in 2022 and Top 4 of the same tournament in the previous edition, the German player offers a certain security in the Tier. Finally selected for the SPL after clutching an impressive 7W-1L in GSCPL 2023, Vani achieved a respectable score of 5 wins to 5 losses. With this episode behind him, he now has the opportunity to really make his mark.
Peasounay
RBY OU
The former best RBY player in the world is back in action in 2024. The recent winner of the last RBY Global Championship - 7 years after his first victory in this same tournament - Peasounay found a second wind in the tier, and he is performing extremely well once again. But the RBY pool is terrifying, and is continuing to grow every year with the addition of top-level players. The French player's margin is not as high as it was in 2017, when he crushed the competition in SPL with an 8-1 record. That being said, his talent and current form will undoubtedly allow him to be part of the strong RBY players in this CCL.

Présentation de l'équipe
Double vainqueur de la Smogon Premier League avec les Raiders en 2022 et 2023, Raiza s’attaque cette fois à la Critical League. Mais contrairement au tournoi américain où il était accompagné de la légende Tricking, le coach italien sera ici seul aux commandes. Dans la lignée de son plan en SPL l’année précédente, Raiza a de nouveau donné les clés du camion à bbeeaa. Aussi talentueux que incontrôlable, le joueur dominicain reste néanmoins une valeure sûre dans pratiquement toutes les Fairy Gens. Bien qu’il ne fait aucun doute qu’il finira la saison avec un record positif, peut-être même qu’il sera MVP du championnat, sa capacité à pouvoir fédérer un groupe autour de lui pose question. Soyons clairs, bbeeaa est un joueur extraordinaire avec le potentiel de gagner plusieurs Majeurs, mais il n’a clairement pas l’âme d’un Leader. Et on a du mal à voir qui pourrait l’être au sein des Mashers. D’un point de vue strictement technique, Serpi serait la réponse naturelle. Monstre incontestable du RBY, les performances de l’allemand seront l’un des baromètres de cette équipe. Du côté des Fairy Gens, ima, Mada et Laroxyl sont des personnalités discrètes et dont les carrières rendent difficilement imaginable que l’un d’entre eux se pose comme chef de file. Quant à Lusa, il est certes le seul joueur des Mashers à avoir remporté un trophée individuel avec le Smogon Tour en 2021, mais il est peut-être encore plus réservé que ses trois coéquipiers réunis. En revanche, au niveau comptable, si on se fie à ses dernières sorties en SPL et en WCOP, il devrait répondre présent. Chez les Old Gens, les Mashers ont un socle plutôt solide mais avec quelques incertitudes néanmoins. Titulaire en BW, MANNAT est plutôt réputé pour sa régularité en 6G, tandis que OmBrArch a encore tout à prouver en GSC malgré toute son expertise dans le Tier. SFG et River sont beaucoup plus stables dans leur génération respective, sans pour autant garantir un score fleuve de part et d’autre. Peut-être que la lumière viendra du PnB, format dans lequel Achimoo a décroché une 4e place récemment. Ou bien du VGC, où SylveonCM a montré un potentiel intéressant après un Top 16 lors d’un Régional. Cela semble tout de même fortement improbable tant le niveau du groupe est effrayant. Sur la touche, la probabilité la plus élevée est que Juyen ou Alpha1013 remplacent Laroxyl en SV au cours du tournoi. Mashing en 7G et Evakiyama en Old Gens ont clairement moins de chances d’avoir du temps de jeu, mais qui sait ? En tout cas, Raiza a réussi à construire un groupe solide mais dont la marge de manœuvre s’avère assez limitée. Pour certains, il ne faudra clairement pas se louper au moment de cliquer.

Laroxyl
SV OU
Dans n’importe quelle autre équipe, Laroxyl aurait évidemment été titulaire en RBY. Sauf qu’avec lui, il y a Serpi. Donc l’italien se voit être propulsé titulaire surprise en SV. Enfin, est-ce que c’est si surprenant que ça au final ? Joueur polyvalent, Laroxyl joue activement en 9G, comme le montre son score de 3V-1D en WCOP cette année. Et son Manager n’avait aucunement prévu de le mettre ailleurs qu’en SV. Simple bluff de la part de Raiza ou vrai coup de génie ? Dans tous les cas, il semblerait qu’il ne soit pas le seul puisque Laroxyl est également titulaire en 9G à la Smogon Champions League. La CCL ne demande qu’à être surpris.
Mada
SV OU
Quand à la mi-saison les Tyrants ont pris la décision de faire rentrer Mada sur le terrain lors de la SPL 2024, ils étaient loin d’imaginer qu’il serait l’un des artisans principaux de la conquête du titre. 4 victoires en 5 matches, le joueur belge a été particulièrement solide pour assumer toute la pression d’un tel événement avec autant d'enjeux. Mada a ensuite enchaîné avec un record de 2V-1D en Coupe du Monde mais malheureusement la Belgique s’est écroulée dans la dernière ligne droite. Titulaire cette fois-ci en CCL, Mada a l’occasion d’utiliser toute l’expérience acquise cette saison pour être un Leader sur et en dehors du terrain.
Bea
SS OU
Celui qui possède l’un des records en Team Tours les plus incroyables sur Smogon (43V-15D) a décidé d’étendre sa domination jusqu’à la CCL. Obnubilé par la quête de son 1er majeur individuel, bbeeaa est en mission. En prenant la 1ère place du Cycle 1 de l’OLT, le message envoyé est clair. Son Mindgame hors du commun est affûté comme jamais, et le demi-finaliste de l’édition 2020 est prêt à manger quiconque se mettra en travers de son chemin. Joueur extrêmement instinctif doté d’un style ultra flamboyant, il est tout simplement impossible de s’ennuyer avec bbeeaa . Surtout quand il se met à Trashtalk ses adversaires pour rentrer encore un peu plus dans leurs têtes. Se fermant la possibilité de jouer en 9G, il est très probable de voir le phénomène bbeea être aligné en 8. Un conseil, ramenez le Pop Corn.
Ima
SM OU
En compétition, il y a ceux que l’on qualifie de “Random”, ceux qui sont favoris au titre, et puis il y a cet énorme groupe de joueurs solides et réguliers, capables de battre tout le monde, mais qui n’ont pas encore réussi à grimper sur la plus haute marche du podium. Ima est l’un de leurs principaux représentants. Certes, il a remporté la Coupe du Monde 2019 avec les États Unis de l’Ouest, mais sur le plan individuel, il n’est pas certain qu’ima se considère comme un vainqueur (0V-3D). Son meilleur résultat est une qualification en Playoffs du Smogon Tour 35 en se classant 3e de la saison régulière. C’était il y a un an. Depuis, il n’a pas réussi à reproduire ce type de performances. Mais ce n’est pas pour autant qu’il n’en a pas le potentiel.
Lusa
ORAS OU
Lusa est un joueur très discret. Il est certes connu sur Smogon puisqu’il a remporté le Smogon Tour en 2021, mais il fait partie de ces joueurs quelque peu invisible aux yeux du grand public. Sa personnalité effacée n’en fait pas pour autant un joueur timide, bien au contraire. Sur l’année 2024 ? C’est un score de 6V-2D en Smogon Premier League et un score de 2V-1D en Coupe du Monde avec le Brésil. Les deux fois en ORAS. C’est peu dire qu’il se sent en confiance en 6G. Et pour la Critical League, Lusa sera de nouveau aligné dans ce Tier. Alors jamais deux sans trois ?
MANNAT
BW OU
Reconnu avant tout pour ses compétences en ORAS, MANNAT a été désigné pour être le titulaire de son équipe en BW. Une erreur de casting ? Pas forcément. En 2022, l’américain a été capable d’aller chercher 4 victoires en 5 matches en SPL. Mais en ORAS. Alors MANNAT peut-il réitérer ce type de performances dans un Tier qu’il maîtrise moins ? En théorie sûrement. Sur le terrain, c’est moins une évidence.
SFG
DPP OU
En plus de 6 ans, SFG a su se construire une certaine réputation en DPP. Dès 2019, il atteint la finale du DPP Summer Seasonal. Il enchaîne l’année suivante en obtenant une place dans le dernier carré du DPP Global Championship. 3 ans plus tard, c’est une nouvelle performance de haut rang au DPP Summer Seasonal, un Top 6 cette fois. Malgré l’évidente maîtrise du Tier par le joueur français, ses expériences en SPL ont été particulièrement décevantes. 3 victoires en 11 matchs, le score est indigne pour un compétiteur de son calibre. La Critical League arrive à point nommé. Ne jamais oublier qu’on ne retient uniquement que le dernier résultat. Alors on efface tout et on repart de zéro.
River
ADV OU
Nouveau visage de la 3G, River s'est démarquée dans une génération pourtant réputée pour être difficilement accessible. Forte d’un style singulier accompagné d’idées novatrices, elle a réussi à s’illustrer en ADVPL grâce à des victoires de prestige contre des joueurs expérimentés du Tier. Cette performance sera suivie d’une place dans le Top 8 de l’ADV Invitational. En progrès permanent, River peut ambitionner de grandes choses, à commencer par la CCL.
Ombrarch
GSC OU
Parmi les joueurs qui n’ont rien à perdre et tout à gagner, OmBrArch est un candidat crédible. Que ce soit dans les Majeurs ou sur le circuit secondaire, le français n’a tout simplement pas le moindre résultat notable. Alors comme d’autres avec lui, dans quel but a-t-il été recruté et pourquoi est-il titulaire ? Des questions actuellement sans réponse. Libre à lui de rester dans l’ombre ou d’entamer un arc protagoniste Shonen.
Serpi
RBY OU
L’incontestable meilleur joueur RBY actuellement depuis le retrait d’Heroic Troller. Depuis 2023, Serpi est une machine à gagner. Vainqueur du RBY Global Championship et de la SPL en 2023 (8V-3D), il enchaîne juste après avec une finale à la RBY Cup au RBY Circuit Championship la même année. En 2024, ce sont 2 Circuit Tournaments supplémentaires remportés, l’OLT RBY et le Winter Seasonal, et le 2e meilleur record de la SPL avec 8 victoires pour 4 défaites. Concrètement, chaque événement que Serpi joue, c’est soit pour le gagner, soit pour y faire un excellent résultat. Le digne successeur d’Heroic Troller sans l’ombre d’un doute. Et pour faire honneur à sa réputation, tout autre résultat que “Best 1G Record” sera perçu comme une contre performance, et ce malgré le niveau immensément relevé de la Poule RBY.
SylveonCM
VGC
SylveonCM est un joueur de VGC avec une expérience limitée sur la scène compétitive, son meilleur résultat étant un top 16 lors d'un régional. Bien que cela témoigne d'un certain potentiel, il est clair que la tâche s'annonce difficile pour lui face au reste de la pool, qui comprend des adversaires beaucoup plus expérimentés et accomplis. SylveonCM devra faire preuve de ténacité et d'ingéniosité pour rivaliser et espérer tirer son épingle du jeu dans un environnement aussi compétitif. D’autant plus que le fétichiste du fameux “German 6” en Solo ne pourra pas compter sur lui dans ce format. La Critical League est une opportunité pour lui de prouver qu'il peut se dépasser et peut-être surprendre ses opposants.
Achimoo
PnB
Ancien joueur de Draft, Achimoo s'est rapidement fait repérer sur Smogon. Après avoir solidement performé en WCoP ou en SCL, il a plus récemment brillé en terminant dans le Top 4 du Pick’n’Ban Tournament. Son expérience dans ce format ainsi que son talent lui ont permis de tirer son épingle du jeu et d’éliminer d’excellents joueurs. Suffisamment de raisons pour en faire une option très intéressante en 9G, que ce soit en OverUsed ou en PnB.

But unlike the American tournament, where he was accompanied by the legend Tricking, the Italian coach will be alone at the helm here. Following in the footsteps of his SPL plan the previous year, Raiza has once again chosen bbeeaa as his star player. As talented as he is uncontrollable, the Dominican player nevertheless remains a safe bet in virtually any fairy gens. While there's no doubt that he'll finish the season with a positive record, and may even be the MVP of the tournament, his ability to unite a group around him raises questions. Let's be clear, bbeeaa is an extraordinary player with the potential to win several major tournaments, but he clearly lacks the soul of a leader. And it's hard to see who could be among the Mashers. From a strictly technical point of view, Serpi would be the natural answer. An undisputed RBY monster, the German's performances will be one of this team's performance indicators. As for the fairy gens, ima, Mada, and Laroxyl are discreet personalities whose careers make it hard to imagine any of them posing as a leader. As for Lusa, he may be the only Mashers player to have won an individual trophy with a Smogon Tour in 2021, but he is perhaps even more reserved than his three aforementioned team-mates combined. On the other hand, if his recent outings in the SPL and WCOP are anything to go by, he should be up to the task. In old gens, the Mashers have a rather solid base, but with a few uncertainties nonetheless. MANNAT, the starter in BW, is renowned for his regularity in ORAS, while OmBrArch still has everything to prove in GSC despite all his expertise in tier. SFG and River are much more stable in their respective generations, without guaranteeing a high score on either side. Perhaps the light will come from the PnB slot, a format in which Achimoo recently took 4th place. Or it may come from the team’s VGC player, Sylveon used calm mind, who showed interesting potential after a top 16 finish in a recent Regional. Still, the VGC pool's level is so frightening that it seems highly unlikely. On the sidelines, the highest probability is that Juyen or Alpha1013 will replace Laroxyl in SV during the tournament. Mashing in ORAS and Evakiyama in old gens are clearly less likely to get playing time, but who knows? In any case, Raiza has succeeded in building a solid squad with limited room for switching slots around. Some players will absolutely have to make the right decisions at the right time to guarantee team success.

In any other team, Laroxyl would obviously have been the RBY starter. Except that he's joined by Serpi. So the Italian finds himself as a surprise starter in SV. But is it really that surprising? A versatile player, Laroxyl plays actively in SV, as shown by his 3-1 record in WCOP this year. And his manager had no intention of putting him anywhere but SV. Was this just a bluff on Raiza's part or a stroke of genius? Either way, it seems Raiza's not the only one starting him in SV, since Laroxyl also starts in the tier in the Smogon Champions League. The CCL is just waiting to be surprised.

When the Tyrants made the mid-season decision to bring Mada onto the team during the 2024 SPL, little did they know that he would be one of the main architects of their title triumph. With 4 victories in 5 matches, the Belgian player was particularly solid to take on all the pressure of such a high-stakes event. Mada then followed up with a 2-1 record in World Cup, but unfortunately Belgium collapsed in the home stretch. Starting in CCL this time around, Mada has the opportunity to use all the experience he has gained this season to be an all-around leader.

Here’s the man with one of the most incredible team tours records on Smogon, with an astounding 43-15 record: bbeeaa. He has now decided to extend his domination to CCL. Focused on his quest for his 1st individual major, bbeeaa is on a mission. By taking 1st place in Cycle 1 of OLT about a month ago, a clear message was sent. His uncommon mindgame is as sharp as ever, and the 2020 OLT semi-finalist is ready to beat anyone who gets in his way. A highly instinctive player with an ultra-flamboyant style, it's simply impossible to get bored with bbeeaa. Especially when he starts trashtalking his opponents to get inside their heads. Definitely not a fan of SV, the phenomenon from the Dominican Republic is slotted in SS. Only one thing is certain: be sure to bring pop corn.

In tournaments, there are those we commonly call “randoms”, those who are contenders for the title, and then there's this huge group of solid, consistent players, capable of beating everyone else, but who haven't yet managed to climb onto the highest step of the podium. ima surely is one of their main representatives. Sure, he won the 2019 World Cup with US West, but on an individual level, ima may not truly consider himself a winner because of his 0-3 record. His best result was qualifying for the Smogon Tour 35 playoffs by finishing 3rd in the regular season. That was a year ago. Since then, he hasn't been able to repeat that kind of performance. But that doesn't mean he doesn't have the potential.
Lusa
ORAS OU
Lusa is a very discreet player. He is of course well-known on Smogon since he won the Smogon Tour in 2021, but he is one of those players that somewhat remain invisible to the general public. His retiring personality doesn't make him a shy player though, quite the contrary. In 2024? A 6-2 record in the Smogon Premier League and a 2-1 record in World Cup with Brazil. Both in ORAS. To say he feels confident in ORAS would be an understatement. So Lusa will once again be lining up in the tier. So, good things always come in threes?
MANNAT
BW OU
Recognized above all for his skills in ORAS, MANNAT has been appointed as the titular member of his BW team. A casting error? Not necessarily. In 2022, the American was able to pick up 4 wins in 5 SPL matches. But in ORAS. So can MANNAT repeat this kind of performance in a Tier he's less proficient in? In theory, certainly. In the field, it's less obvious.

DPP OU
Over more than 6 years, SFG has built up quite a reputation in DPP. From 2019, he reaches the DPP Summer Seasonal final. He followed this up the year after with a place in the semi-finals of the DPP Global Championship. 3 years later, another top performance at the DPP Summer Seasonal, this time a Top 6. Despite the French player's obvious mastery of Tier, his SPL experiences have been particularly disappointing. 3 wins in 11 games is an unworthy score for a competitor of his caliber. The Critical League comes at just the right time. Never forget that only the last result is remembered. So we wipe the slate clean and start from scratch.

The new face of ADV, River, has made a name for herself in a generation renowned for being difficult to access. With her unique style and innovative ideas, she has made a name for herself in ADVPL with prestigious victories over seasoned ADV players. This performance was followed by a top 8 finish in the ADV Invitational. Continually improving, River can now aspire to great things, starting with CCL.
Ombrarch
GSC OU
Among players with nothing to lose and everything to gain, OmBrArch is a credible candidate. Whether in the Majors or on the secondary circuit, the Frenchman simply doesn't have a single notable result. So, like others with him, why was he recruited and why is he a starter? Questions that remain unanswered. It's up to him to stay in the shadows or to start a Shonen protagonist arc.
Serpi

He is the undisputed best RBY player since Heroic Troller's retirement. Since 2023, Serpi has been a winning machine: winner of the RBY Global Championship and SPL in 2023 - with a 8-3 record -, he followed this up with an RBY Cup finals and an RBY Circuit Championship finals the same year. In 2024, he won 2 more Circuit Tournaments, the RBY OLT, and the Winter Seasonal, while posting the 2nd best SPL record with 8 wins and 4 losses. In concrete terms, every event Serpi plays is either to win, or to achieve excellent results. He is truly a worthy successor to Heroic Troller, without a shadow of a doubt. And to live up to his reputation, any result other than “Best RBY record” will be seen as a counter-performance, despite the immensely high level of the RBY Pool.

Sylveon used calm mind is a VGC player with limited experience on the competitive scene, his best result being a top 16 finish at a regional. While this shows some potential, it's clear that he has a tough task ahead of him against the rest of the pool, which includes far more experienced and accomplished opponents. Sylveon will have to be tenacious and resourceful if he is to hold his own in such a competitive environment. Especially as the fetishist of the famous “German 6” in solo will not be able to count on it in this format. The Critical League is an opportunity for him to prove that he can surpass himself and perhaps surprise his opponents.
Achimoo
PnB
A former Draft player, Achimoo quickly made a name for himself on Smogon. After solid performances in WCoP and SCL, he most recently shone with a top 4 finish in the Pick'n'Ban Tournament. His experience in this format, combined with his talent, has enabled him to stand out from the crowd and eliminate some excellent players. These are enough reasons to make him a very interesting option in SV, notably in the Pick’n’Ban slot, in which he will start.

Deuxième équipe la plus francophone du tournoi derrière les Fifty Fifty Freaks, les ELO Boosters s’avancent dans cette Critical League avec une formation gonflée à bloc. Sans réel Leader, la composition du Manager français 48 affiche surtout une solidité impressionnante. Commençons par la ligne des Fairy Gens. Tous, en partant de Kebab mlml à Gondra, ont déjà réalisé au moins une fois une performance de haut vol. Certains avec plus de régularité que d’autres. Chacun est vraiment capable d’aller chercher un score plus que positif, notamment le terrifiant Gtcha qui reste sur, tenez-vous bien, 19 victoires pour 4 minuscules petites défaites lors des deux dernières SPL qu’il a disputées. Et qu’il a remportées avec le titre de MVP à chaque fois. Mais il n’est pas le seul des Boosters à être fortement attendu. En BW, Shoka est au-dessus du lot. Certains le prédisent même invaincu sur tout le tournoi. Sacrée pression. Mais c’est toute l’estime que lui porte la communauté. Respectivement Top 3 en VGC et en RBY, Shao et Felix font également partie des machines à points chez les ELO Boosters. Comme s’il en manquait. Et ce n’est pas fini. Parce qu’en DPP, c’est Pideous qu’ils ont recruté. Et même s’il a été moins performant dernièrement avec une SPL décevante, le vainqueur du DPP Invitational 2024 n’en reste pas moins une valeur sûre du Tier. C’est plutôt en ADV, GSC et PnB qu’il faut aller chercher les éventuelles faiblesses des Boosters. Et encore. Joueurs confirmés sur le circuit secondaire, Ojr et PatateDouce n’ont tout simplement jamais participé à la moindre compétition majeure. C’est également le cas pour Roi qui manque davantage d’expérience au niveau international. Mais sa récente 16e place au Pick’n’Ban Tournament laisse envisager un score très honnête. Sur le banc, Micciu pourrait justement suppléer Roi, alors qu’egalvanc et Alkione peuvent venir un peu partout en Fairy Gens. Peu probable cependant. Enfin, The Sprinkler devra déjà essayer de ne pas se faire bannir avant même d’espérer gagner une place de titulaire en ADV. Bref, 48 a magnifiquement orchestré sa Draft pour obtenir une équipe en béton armé sans défaut apparent. Un candidat au titre pour sûr.

Quand on est italien et qu’on essaye de se faire une place quand Tricking et Empo existent, ce n’est pas tous les jours faciles. Parce qu’être très bon ne suffit pas, et pourtant Kebab est un super joueur. Vainqueur de la Smogon Premier League et de la Coupe du Monde, Top 8 au dernier Official Ladder Tournament pour ne citer que ça, il possède un palmarès que la quasi totalité des joueurs envient. Malgré ça, Kebab reste dans l’ombre des deux génies. Et peut-être que ça lui convient très bien comme ça. Continuez de le sous-estimer, vous risquez d’être surpris.
TPP
SV OU
Principalement connu comme un des humains les plus incroyables sur Smogon, TPP est aussi un excellent joueur. En 2021, il remporte la Coupe du Monde avec un impressionnant record de 5V-1D, quelques mois après avoir soulevé le trophée à la Smogon Premier League et atteint les demi-finales de l’OST. Cette année, il a de nouveau rappelé qu’on pouvait compter sur lui en allant chercher 6 victoires en 9 matchs à la SPL. Hyper polyvalent, son principal avantage est sa capacité à maîtriser aussi bien les Fairy Gens que les formats PnB et VGC. Si vous cherchez une personne qui puisse assurer un record positif, un bon environnement et un soutien pour ses partenaires, TPP est le coéquipier idéal.

Attention, un tueur en série a été libéré. Mauvais jeu de mots ? Regardez plutôt : 11-1 lors de la SPL 2022, MVP du tournoi et vainqueur du Tie Break décisif contre bro fist, excusez du peu, pour ramener aux Raiders leur première couronne. Rebelote l’année suivante, un record de 8V-3D, encore un titre de MVP du tournoi, et une victoire à nouveau lors du dernier match du Tie Break en finale contre mind gaming. Ce que Gtcha a réussi à faire est absolument ébouriffant, et c’est d’autant plus dommage qu’il ait été privé de la SPL 2024 à cause de son Ban. Désormais sorti de prison, Gtcha a une revanche à prendre. La CCL est prévenue.
Niko

La définition même du “ça passe ou ça casse”. Niko est un joueur capable de démarrer une SPL sur les chapeaux de roues en écrasant ses 5 premiers adversaires, puis d’enchaîner 10 défaites de suite jusqu’à la Coupe du Monde. Alors quelle version de Niko verra-t-on lors de cette CCL ? Celle où il a été resplendissant en 2021 lorsqu’il a enchaîné un record de 6V-3D en SPL, puis un score de 3V-0D pour aller chercher le titre en WCOP ? Ou bien celle que l’on a vue quelques mois auparavant ? Forcément, miser sur lui est un véritable coup de Poker. Mais n’est-ce-pas là l’essence même de la compétition de très haut niveau ? Prendre des risques quitte à tout perdre, mais qui peuvent tout aussi bien vous faire remporter le jackpot. Il y a peu de chances de voir Niko régulier sur l’ensemble du tournoi, mais le Dr Jekyll et Mr Hyde de Pokémon peut se révéler au meilleur des moments pour transformer une main perdante.
Gondra
ORAS OU
En 2020, Gondra remporte la SPL avec les Ruiners avec un spectaculaire record de 9 victoires pour 2 défaites. 1 an auparavant, il obtenait un Top 8 au Smogon Tour. On pensait Gondra en pleine progression et capable d’aller chercher de grands titres. 4 ans plus tard, le palmarès du joueur d’Amérique Latine n’a pas évolué. Pire, ses performances n’ont cessé de décliner depuis, mis à part un Top 8 à l’OST 2022. Alors qu’arrive-t-il à Gondra ? Simple crise de confiance ? Était-ce un coup de chance ? Ou bien est-ce que le train est déjà passé et la nouvelle génération est trop difficile à suivre ? Autant de questions auxquelles Gondra pourra répondre sur le terrain, et en fonction de ses performances, nous pourrons en juger.
Shoka
BW OU
Shoka est tout simplement un titan de la scène compétitive BW, ayant déjà remporté la SPL et s'étant forgé une réputation de joueur exceptionnellement solide. Dans la pool BW, il se distingue donc probablement comme le meilleur joueur, ce qui fait de lui l'homme à abattre dans ce tournoi. Sa maîtrise du jeu, combinée à son expérience et à sa constance, le place en position de favori, et chaque adversaire qui se dressera sur sa route devra se préparer à un défi de taille. Shoka est une véritable force dominante dans son tier, prêt à imposer sa suprématie une fois de plus, sur quiconque se placerait au travers de sa route, il va donc de soi que les attentes seront grandes pour le joueur phare.
Pideous
DPP OU
Invité presque par hasard au DPP Invitational 2024, Pideous crée un exploit retentissant en remportant le tournoi. Sa maîtrise parfaite du Tier est souvent attribuée à son style très défensif qui rentre en adéquation parfaite avec la dynamique de la génération, mais il a su montrer à plusieurs reprises une facette plus offensive de son jeu le rendant nettement moins prévisible. En Team Tours, le joueur écossais sort d’une SPL en demi-teinte avec 3 victoires en 8 rencontres. C’est nettement mieux en revanche sur le circuit secondaire où il a décoché 9 victoires pour 5 défaites en RoaPL et DPPPL. Forcément revanchard, Pideous essayera de frapper un grand coup lors de la Critical League.
Ojr
ADV OU
Ojr est un joueur expérimenté de la 3G mais qui n’a toujours pas connu le grand frisson en Majeur. Qualifié pour les Playoffs de l’ADV Circuit Championship à deux reprises, il a ensuite été invité aux Play-Ins de l'ADV Invitational 2024.Ojr a également remporté plusieurs éditions de la Mushi League, y démontrant un très bon sens de cohésion d’équipe, et un comportement exemplaire. Cependant, malgré ces succès, ses performances en tournois majeurs n'ont pas toujours reflété son véritable niveau, se situant parfois un peu en deçà de ce qu'il est capable de réaliser. Ojr reste néanmoins un joueur solide, capable de se hisser parmi les meilleurs si tout se met en place pour lui dans ce tournoi.
PatateDouce
GSC OU
Récemment renommé en Maître Apagnan, après tout pourquoi pas, La PatateDouce est inconnu sur la scène internationale. Quel que soit le pseudo. Quoique, il a récemment obtenu le 3e meilleur score de la GSCPL 2023 (5V-1D), et a ensuite remporté ses deux rencontres en ROAPL. Maître PatagnanDouce n’est pas la pomme de terre qu’il pense être, et c’est tant mieux comme ça. Parce qu’il devra sortir le grand jeu s’il veut éviter de se faire dévorer.
Felix
RBY OU
3e des Power Rankings de la SPL 2024, Felix est de la trempe des monstres de la 1G. Sa victoire au RBY Invitational 2023 est une preuve, et celle au Summer Seasonal 2022 en est une autre. Depuis 2022, c’est 19 victoires pour 10 défaites en SPL. Quand on connaît la férocité du Tier, c’est loin d’être anodin. Dernièrement, Felix a pris une 5e place au RBY Invitational 2024. Il est donc en grande forme. Et il faudra au moins ça pour espérer survivre au sein du groupe le plus titanesque de la Critical League.

Voici venu le joueur star de la communauté française en l'absence d’Axior, le seul et l’unique Shao. Joueur de VGC depuis 2016, son admiration pour Wolfey lui a donné des ailes et l'a poussé à se lancer. Notre joueur de la Team PE, armé de ses supporters comme Megathorn, Taki ou encore DricsVG, va nous montrer tout au long du tournoi pourquoi ses amis le considèrent comme le meilleur joueur du monde. La pression, il la connaît. Il ne reculera devant rien pour obtenir cette victoire à domicile.
RoiDadadou
PnB
RoiDadadou est une personnalité bien plus connue pour son franc-parler et son aisance sur un Google Doc que pour son nombre de games en tournoi par équipe. Malgré une absence de performances notables jusqu'à présent, l’helper Team Belgique a tout de même réussi à se faire remarquer en atteignant le Top 16 du Pick'n'Ban Tournament, le Top 24 du Draft SSNL 2023, et de multiples victoires dans la communauté Draft League. D’habitude helper actif et versatile, il a cette fois ci été propulsé au slot de titulaire, ne lui reste plus qu’à faire ses preuves, et garder sa langue dans sa poche.

The second most French-speaking team in the tournament behind the Fifty Fifty Freaks, the ELO Boosters enter the Critical League with a squad raring to go. Without any real leaders, the French Manager 48's line-up is impressively solid. Let's start with the fairy gens line-up. Every single one of them, from Kebab mlml to Gondra, have already put in at least one high-flying performance. Some with more regularity than others. Each one is really capable of going for more than a mere positive record, especially the terrifying Gtcha who remains on - hold on to your hat - 19 victories for 4 tiny little defeats in the last two SPLs he has been part of, with both time winning the title of MVP. But he's not the only Booster to be eagerly awaited. In BW, Shoka stands out from the crowd. Some even predict him to be unbeaten throughout the tournament. Quite the pressure. But that's the esteem in which the community holds him. Respectively top 3 in VGC and RBY amongst their piers, Shao and Felix are also among the ELO Boosters' winning machines. As if they were missing any. And there's more to come. Because in DPP, they've recruited Pideous. And even though he's been underperforming as of late with a disappointing SPL, the winner of the 2024 DPP Invitational is still a sound investment in the tier. We should be looking at ADV, GSC, and PnB for any weaknesses to show in the Boosters roster. And yet, both seasoned players on the secondary circuit, Ojr and PatateDouce have simply never taken part in a single major tournament. This is also the case for Roi, who lacks international experience. But his recent 16th-place finish at the Pick'n'Ban Tournament suggests a very decent record. On the bench, Micciu could be just the thing to fill in for Roi, while egalvanc and Alkione could come in just about anywhere in fairy gens. Unlikely, however. Finally, The Sprinkler will have to try not to get banned before he can even hope to earn a starting spot in ADV. In short, 48 has orchestrated his draft magnificently to obtain a team made of reinforced concrete with no apparent flaws. A title contender for sure.

When you're Italian and you're trying to make a name for yourself when Tricking and Empo exist, it's not always easy. Because being very good isn't enough, and yet Kebab mlml is a great player. His accolades speak for themselves: Smogon Premier League and World Cup winner, top 8 in the last Official Ladder Tournament, to name but a few, he has a track record that many players envy. Despite this, Kebab remains in the shadow of the two geniuses. And maybe that suits him just fine. But don’t underestimate him, or else you're in for a surprise.

Mainly known as one of the most incredible humans on Smogon, TPP is also an excellent player. In 2021, he won the World Cup with an impressive 5-1 record, just a few months after winning the red trophy of the Smogon Premier League and reaching the semi-finals of OST. This year, he once again proved that he can be counted on, with 6 wins in 9 games in SPL. Highly versatile, his main advantage is his ability to master fairy gens, as well as the PnB and VGC formats. If you're looking for someone who can ensure a positive record, a good environment and support for his partners, TPP is the ideal teammate.

Beware, a serial killer is on the loose. Take a look: an 11-1 record in the 2022 SPL, MVP of the tournament, and winner of the decisive tie break against bro fist, allowing the Raiders to capture their first crown. And again the following year, an 8-3 record, another tournament MVP title, and another victory in the final tie break match against mind gaming. What Gtcha managed to do is absolutely mind-boggling, and it's all the more of a shame that he was deprived of the 2024 SPL because of his ban. Now out of prison, Gtcha has a revenge to take. CCL has been warned.
Niko

The very definition of “make or break”. Niko is a player capable of starting an SPL on a high note by crushing his first 5 opponents, to then go on to lose 10 games in a row until World Cup. So which version of Niko will we see at this CCL? The one in which he shone in 2021, when he strung together a 6-3 record in SPL, followed by a clean 3-0 record to take the WCOP title? Or the one we saw a few months earlier? Obviously, betting on him is a real gamble. But isn't that what top-level competition is all about? Taking risks even if it means losing everything, but which can just as easily win you the jackpot. Niko is unlikely to be a regular throughout the tournament, but Pokémon's Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde can turn a losing hand into a winning one.
Gondra
ORAS OU
In 2020, Gondra won the SPL with the Ruiners with a spectacular 9-2 record. One year earlier, he had achieved a top 8 finish in the Smogon Tour. We thought Gondra was on the rise and capable of going for big titles. 4 years later, the Latin American player's record has not changed. Worse still, his performances have steadily declined since then, apart from a top 8 finish in the 2022 OST. So what's happening with Gondra? A simple crisis of confidence? Was it a stroke of luck? Or has the train already left the station, the new generation being too hard to keep up with? These are just some of the questions Gondra will be able to answer in the field, and depending on his performance, we'll be able to judge for ourselves.

BW OU
Shoka is quite simply a titan of the BW competitive scene, having already won an SPL. He has forged himself a reputation as an exceptionally solid player. In the BW pool, he therefore probably stands out as the best player, making him the man to beat in this tournament. His mastery of the game, combined with his experience and consistency, clearly marks him as the favorite, and every opponent standing in his way should be prepared for a tough challenge. Shoka truly is a dominant force in his tier, ready to impose his supremacy once again on anyone who stands in his way, so it goes without saying that expectations will be high for the star player.
Pideous
DPP OU
Invited almost by chance to the 2024 DPP Invitational, Pideous created a resounding feat by winning the tournament. His perfect mastery of the tier is often attributed to his highly defensive style, which fits in perfectly with the generation's dynamic, but he has repeatedly shown a more offensive side to his game, making him far less predictable. In team tours, the Scottish player is coming off a lackluster SPL with 3 wins in 8 matches. On the secondary circuit, however, his record was much better, with a 9-5 record in RoaPL and DPPPL. Pideous will be out for revenge in the Critical League.
Ojr
ADV OU
Ojr is an experienced ADV player who has yet to feel the thrill of a Major. Qualified for the ADV Circuit Championship Playoffs on two occasions, he was then invited to the ADV Invitational 2024 Play-Ins. He has also won several editions of the Mushi League, demonstrating a very good sense of team cohesion and exemplary behavior. However, despite these successes, his performances in major tournaments have not always reflected his true level, sometimes falling a little short of what he is capable of achieving. When you consider the ferocity of the tier, this is far from insignificant. Felix recently took 5th place in the 2024 RBY Invitational. So he's in top form. And he'll need at least that to have any hope of surviving in the Critical League's most titanic pool.

Here comes the star player of the French community in Axior’s absence, the one and only Shao. A VGC player since 2016, his admiration for Wolfey gave him wings and spurred him to play competitive Pokémon. With supporters like Megathorn, Taki, or DricsVG by his side, our player from Team PE will show us throughout the tournament why his friends consider him the best player in the world. He knows pressure all too well, and there won’t be anything stopping him from bringing victory home.

RoiDadadou is a personality far better known for his outspokenness and ease with a Google Spreadsheet than for his number of games in team tournaments. Despite a lack of notable performances to date, the Team Belgium helper has nevertheless managed to make a name for himself, reaching the top 16 of the Pick'n'Ban Tournament, the top 24 of the 2023 Draft Seasonal, and multiple victories in the Draft League community. Usually an active and versatile helper, this time he's been thrust into the starting slot, so all that's left for him to do is prove himself and keep his mouth tight.

Maverick Shooters avait un plan très clair pour bâtir son équipe des SwagPlay Harlequins : recruter des travailleurs acharnés. Ce groupe est à son image. Aucune star, simplement des joueurs passionnés qui bosseront comme des dingues pour décrocher la victoire. Parmi eux, ACR1, Hiko, Ruffles et Mako incarneront les locomotives de cette formation. En pleine bourre, notamment Mako, leur succès est la condition sine qua none à la réussite générale des Harlequins. Parce que la plupart de leurs coéquipiers sont soit inexpérimentés à ce niveau, 16Bit et Suzuya principalement, soit sur une pente négative. Jester, Monai et Raizen restent tous les trois sur une contre-performance oubliable en SPL, tandis que ZDen ne met plus un pied devant l’autre depuis 2019. Originality de son côté peut tirer son épingle du jeu et être l’une des surprises de ce tournoi. En net progrès depuis plusieurs années, le protégé de Storm Zone est en confiance, mais il est relativement novice en compétition par équipes et il dégage une personnalité plutôt solitaire. Il faudra impérativement qu’il s’intègre car ses talents de Builder en Fairy Gens seront un atout considérables pour les Harlequins. Dans leurs formats respectifs, Hiko et Tyo devront chacun assurer un score positif s’ils veulent maintenir leur équipe à flot le plus longtemps possible. Le joueur français sort d’ailleurs d’un Top 6 au Pick’n’Ban Tournament et d’un 3V-0D en Coupe du Monde, autant dire que Maverick place énormément d’espoirs en lui. Tyo de son côté espère connaître un nouveau moment de gloire après sa spectaculaire victoire à l’Utrecht Special Event avec Artikodin. Il fait indéniablement partie des hommes forts de son Tier, à lui d’assumer son statut. Enfin Raizen aura la lourde tâche de ramener un maximum de points dans le groupe de la mort. Son inscription unique en RBY pose d’ailleurs souci dans le cas où les Harlequins souhaitent modifier leur composition. Performant en Fairy Gens, il aurait pu apporter une solution de secours, sachant que sa doublure Sceptross est amplement capable de prendre sa place en 1G. De même pour Larry qui ne souhaite jouer qu’en VGC, alors qu’il vient d’atteindre la finale de la BW Cup, et qu’il est globalement compétitif partout. Des nœuds au cerveau à venir pour Maverick, mais qui conserve deux options secrètes supplémentaires sur le banc dont lui seul connaît les capacités. Le coach indien nous réserve peut-être le Play du tournoi.

Un expert de l’Ubers en SV OU ? Il ne devrait pas trop être dépaysé. Joueur régulier des Majeurs de Smogon en Low Tiers, Suzuya décide de tenter sa chance dans le Tier principal. Forcément, son palmarès y est vierge et peu d’informations à son sujet sont connues. Mais pour qu’il soit titulaire dès la 1ère semaine, c’est que son Manager connaît des choses que nous ne savons pas. La moindre des choses est de leur donner le bénéfice du doute.
ACR1
SV OU
Recruté par les double tenants du titre cette année en SPL, ACR1 a plus que répondu aux attentes. Initialement remplaçant, il a rapidement gagné sa place de titulaire en SV dès la 4e semaine. Pour ne plus y bouger jusqu’à la fin du tournoi. 5 victoires sur les 6 matchs joués, ACR1 a tenu à bout de bras une équipe des Raiders en perdition en 9G. 6e meilleur ratio du tournoi dans la Gen, ACR1 entend bien poursuivre sur sa lancée lors de cette CCL.
Originality
SS OU
Le disciple de Storm Zone continue de mener son petit bout de chemin. Fan absolu de la Ranked de Pokémon Showdown, Originality est aussi capable de très bien jouer en tournois. Une qualification en Playoffs de l’Official Ladder Tournament 2022, et un récent Top 6 au Pick and Ban Tournament sont là pour le prouver. Excellent Builder, il sera un soutien de taille pour ses coéquipiers dans les Fairy Gens. Mais pour se démarquer de ce statut qui lui colle à la peau, Originality doit montrer qu’il est bien plus que le sparring partner de Storm Zone. L’occasion ici semble idéale.
ZDen
SM OU
Zinédine Zidane ? Non, simplement ZDen. Le joueur espagnol n’est pas l’égal de l’illustre légende française sur Smogon, mais ça, personne ne peut lui en vouloir. Alors quel est son palmarès ? Un score de 4V-1D à la Coupe du Monde 2019 et c’est encore aujourd’hui sa meilleure performance en Majeur. Pourquoi est-il donc titulaire sur cette CCL ? A-t-il obtenu des performances importantes que l’on ignore sur la scène nationale ? Est-il un joyau encore imparfait ? Les projecteurs sont braqués sur ZDen, parce qu’il est l’un des gros points d’interrogation de ce tournoi.

Petit nouveaux sur la scène compétitive de Smogon, Ruffles a bénéficié du nouveau format de la Coupe du Monde pour briller. Titulaire en ORAS avec US West, le joueur américain a aligné un très joli score de 4 victoires en 5 matchs, avec à la clé une qualification pour les demi-finales. Membre de la nouvelle vague de joueurs créatifs et offensifs menée par xray, Ruffles espère rapidement atteindre la réputation de ses illustres collègues. La Critical League tombe à pic.
Monai
BW OU
Connu pour ses Invitational Tournaments en 5G, Monai est un adorateur du Tier. Top 8 de la BW Cup en 2021, l’américain est à la peine depuis. Des résultats réguliers sans être transcendants sur le circuit secondaire, et une SPL 2023 très compliquée où il a terminé avec 2 victoires en 9 matchs. En manque de confiance, Monai veut montrer que son talent est à la hauteur de sa passion pour le jeu. Mais son style offensif est très risqué quand on est en manque de repères comme lui. Alors peut-être serait-il intéressant pour Monai de tenter une nouvelle approche pour relancer sa carrière ?

DPP OU
Il y a des gens qui aiment prendre leur temps. En l'occurrence, c’est le cas pour 16Bit. Présent depuis 10 ans sur Smogon, l’américain commence seulement depuis l’année dernière à se faire une place parmi les joueurs reconnus en DPP. Recruté en tant que remplaçant pour la première fois de sa carrière en SPL 2023, 16Bit a obtenu dans la foulée une place à l’Invitational. Cette saison, c’est 9 victoires en 16 matchs sur la RoAPL et la DPPPL cumulées. De quoi le mettre en confiance pour aller chercher un score important pour la Critical League.

Vainqueure surprise de la BW Cup 2023, la vague Mako continue de déferler sur Smogon. Une place dans le Top 8 de l’ADV Cup la même année et une première qualification en Playoffs du Smogon Classic lui ont permis de glaner une place de titulaire en SPL en 2024. Sa performance ? Excellente. Absolument pas intimidée par l’enjeu, Mako surfe sur la concurrence et obtient un score de 6V-3D en 3G. Et voilà que le Tsunami arrive jusqu’à la CCL.
Jester
GSC OU
Finaliste de la SPL 2024 avec les Tigers, Jester a su se rattraper de son année précédente très compliquée (2V-7D) avec un score légèrement positif (6V-5D). 2e meilleur joueur de la GSCPL avec 6 victoires en 9 rencontres, l’américain monte progressivement en puissance. Déjà considéré comme un des hommes forts du Tier, Jester va chercher à être encore un peu plus que ça lors de cette Critical League.

Raizen est un joueur déjà bien établi en SPL, avec des performances notables en ORAS et SS. Toutefois, son évolution récente en RBY ne passe pas inaperçue, et il est désormais sur la sellette pour potentiellement passer dans ce tier l'année prochaine. Sa progression et son niveau en constante augmentation font de lui un joueur solide et respecté dans la communauté. Raizen est bien vu par ses pairs, et il semble prêt à franchir une nouvelle étape dans sa carrière compétitive. Si sa trajectoire actuelle se poursuit, il pourrait bientôt devenir un acteur clé en RBY sur Smogon, confirmant ainsi son talent polyvalent. Tout reste à faire pour lui dans la pool infernale du RBY, mais il a les atouts nécessaires à sa réussite.

VGC
Tyo a marqué l'histoire du VGC en remportant l'Utrecht Special Event avec Artikodin, réalisant ainsi la première victoire en tournoi majeur de ce Pokémon depuis la création du VGC. Cette performance est d'autant plus remarquable que Artikodin est souvent considéré comme un choix médiocre et loin d'être méta. Pourtant, Tyo a su faire briller ce Pokémon de manière spectaculaire, rappelant l'exploit légendaire de Sejun Park avec Pachirisu aux Worlds 2014. Sa victoire n'est pas seulement une démonstration de ses compétences stratégiques, mais aussi de sa capacité à innover et à surprendre ses adversaires avec des choix audacieux. Tyo a prouvé que, même avec des options inattendues, il est possible de dominer la scène compétitive, et il lui faudra au moins cela pour venir à bout de cette pool de niveau mondial !

Considéré comme le futur de la France sur Smogon, Hiko a pour l’instant répondu aux attentes placées en lui sur cette année 2024. Une 6e place au Pick’n’Ban Tournament et un 3-0 en Coupe du Monde ont mis tout le monde d’accord. Joueur extrêmement réfléchi et builder passionné, sa carrière pourrait très bien décoller cet automne avec ses participations simultanées en en SCL et en CCL. Afin de terminer cette première année compétitive en beauté, Hiko sait ce qui lui reste à faire.

Maverick Shooters had a clear plan for building his SwagPlay Harlequins roster: recruit tryhards. This group is just like him. No stars, just passionate players who will work like crazy to win. Among them, ACR1, Hiko, Ruffles, and Mako will be the driving forces behind the team. Mako in particular is on a roll, and their success is a sine qua non for the Harlequins' overall success. Because most of their teammates are either inexperienced at this level, 16Bit and Suzuya in particular, or on a downward slope. Jester, Monai, and Raizen are all on a forgettable SPL run, while ZDen hasn't put one foot in front of the other since 2019. Originality, on the other hand, could be one of the surprises of the tournament. The Storm Zone protégé has been progressing steadily over the last few years and is confident, but is relatively new to the team tour tournament scene and has a rather solitary personality. It's vital that he integrates, as his building skills in fairy gens will be a considerable asset for the Harlequins. In their respective formats, Hiko and Tyo will each need to ensure a positive record if they are to keep their teams afloat for as long as possible. The French player is coming off a top 6 in the Pick'n'Ban Tournament and a 3-0 record in World Cup, so Maverick has high hopes for him. As for Tyo, he's hoping for another moment of glory after his spectacular victory in the Utrecht Special Event with Articuno. He's undeniably one of the strongest men in his tier, and it's up to him to live up to his status. Last but not least, Raizen will have the onerous task of collecting as many victories as possible in the pool of death. Raizen's unique RBY registration also poses a problem should Harlequins wish to change their line-up. Performing well in fairy gens, he could have provided a back-up solution, given that his understudy Sceptross is more than capable of taking his place in RBY. The same goes for Larry, who only wants to play VGC, despite having just reached the BW Cup finals and being globally competitive everywhere. Surely this will cause some headaches for Maverick, who still has two more secret options on the bench whose capabilities only he knows. Perhaps the Indian coach has the play of the tournament in store for us.

An Ubers expert in SV OU? Well, he shouldn't feel too out of place. A regular player in Smogon's low tier majors, Suzuya decided to try his luck in OU. Of course, his record there is unblemished and little is known about him. But for him to be a starter from the get go, his manager must know things we don't. The least we can do is give them the benefit of the doubt.

Recruited by the two-time SPL titleholders this year, ACR1 more than lived up to expectations. Initially a substitute, he quickly earned his place as SV starter in week 4. He remained there for the rest of the tournament. With 5 wins out of 6 games played, ACR1 single-handedly carried the Raiders in SV. With the 6th best ratio in SV, ACR1 intends to build on this success during CCL.
Originality
SS OU
The Storm Zone disciple continues to lead the way. An absolute fan of Pokémon Showdown's ladder, Originality is also capable of playing very well in tournaments. He qualified for the 2022 Official Ladder Tournament playoffs and reached the top 6 in the recent Pick’n’Ban Tournament, proving this. An excellent builder, he will be a great support for his teammates in fairy gens. But to break away from this status, Originality needs to show that he's much more than just Storm Zone's sparring partner. The opportunity here seems ideal.

SM OU

A member of the new wave of creative, attacking players led by xray, Ruffles hopes to quickly match the reputation of his illustrious colleagues. The Critical League comes at just the right time.

Known for his BW Invitational Tournaments, Monai worships the tier. Top 8 in the BW Cup in 2021, the American has been struggling ever since. Regular but not transcendent results on the secondary circuit, and a very complicated 2023 SPL where he finished with 2 wins in 9 matches. Lacking in confidence, Monai wants to show that his talent matches his passion for the game. But his attacking style is very risky when you're as lacking in reference as he is. So perhaps it would be worthwhile for Monai to try a new approach to relaunch his career?
16Bit
DPP OU
Some people like to take their time. In this case, 16Bit does. The American has been a fixture on Smogon for 10 years, and only last year began to make a name for himself as a recognized DPP player. Recruited as a substitute for the first time in his career in SPL 2023, 16Bit was immediately awarded a place at the Invitational. This season, he has won 9 of his 16 games in the RoAPL and DPPPL combined. Enough to give him the confidence to go for an important score in the Critical League.
Mako

Surprise winner of the 2023 BW Cup, the Mako wave continues to sweep through Smogon. A top 8 finish in the ADV Cup the same year and her first qualification for the Smogon Classic playoffs have earned her a starting spot in the 2024 SPL. Her performance was excellent. Undaunted by what was at stake, Mako surfed on the competition and achieved a 6-3 in ADV. And now the tsunami has reached CCL.
Jester
GSC OU
A SPL 2024 finalist with the Tigers, Jester made up for his very complicated previous year (2W-7L) with a slightly positive score (6W-5L). GSCPL's 2nd-best player with 6 wins in 9 matches, the American player is gradually increasing in power. Already considered one of the Tier's strongest men, Jester will be looking to be a little more than that at this Critical League.

Raizen is an already well-established player, with notable performances in ORAS and SS. However, his recent evolution into RBY has not gone unnoticed. His progress and ever-increasing level make him a solid and respected player in the community. Raizen is well regarded by his peers, and seems ready to take the next step in his competitive career. If his current trajectory continues, he could soon become a key RBY player on Smogon, confirming his versatile talent. Everything remains to be done for him in the RBY infernal pool, but he has what it takes to succeed.

Tyo made VGC history by winning the Utrecht Special Event with Articuno, the first major tournament victory for this Pokémon since VGC was founded. This achievement is all the more remarkable given that Articuno is often considered a mediocre choice and far from meta. Yet, Tyo was able to make this Pokémon shine in spectacular fashion, reminiscent of Sejun Park's legendary feat with Pachirisu during the 2014 Pokémon World Championships. His victory was not only a demonstration of his strategic skills, but also of his ability to innovate and surprise his opponents with bold choices. Tyo has proved that, even with unexpected options, it's possible to dominate the competitive scene, and he'll need at least that much to overcome this world-class pool!

Regarded as the future of France on Smogon, Hiko has so far lived up to the expectations placed on him in 2024. A 6th place finish in the Pick'n'Ban Tournament and a 3-0 record in World Cup have put everyone in agreement. An extremely well thought-out player and a passionate builder, his career could very well take off this autumn with his simultaneous participation in SCL and CCL. To round off his first competitive year in style, Hiko knows what he has to do.

Quand on s’appelle les Bluffing Despots et qu’on recrute le duo Zokuru-Profdesinnoh avec BlazingDark, c’est qu’on est soit suicidaire, soit totalement machiavélique. Eoward est peut-être les deux, ou tout simplement ignorant. En prenant une telle décision, indépendamment des qualités intrinsèques des deux titulaires français, le Manager de Team Belgique en Coupe du Monde a mis la survie de son équipe en péril avant même que le tournoi ne commence. Mais que lui est-il donc passé par la tête ? On pourrait également se poser la question par rapport à l’achat de Feen qui affiche un terrible score de 7V-22D depuis… 2016. Sa titularisation est peut-être même la cerise sur le gâteau. De même, quid de la pertinence du recrutement de LLiolae alors que le finaliste de l’OLT 2019 n’est que l’ombre de lui-même depuis et n’a jamais semblé être à son aise en Team Tours ? Malgré ça, les Despots ont des qualités certaines. TDNT et Void cumulent à eux deux 23 victoires en 24 rencontres en 2024, WCOP et SPL confondues. Les Leaders de cette formation ? C’est certain. Mais la star de cette équipe c’est l'incontournable MichaelDerBeste. Omniprésent sur tous les fronts, la légende allemande entend bien réparer ses erreurs du passé qui lui ont valu une bien triste réputation en tant que coéquipier. D’autant plus que sa CdM et sa SPL n’ont pas été à la hauteur du talent du joueur (5V-7D). Heureusement, Eoward pourra compter sur les personnalités attachantes et bienveillantes de l’expérimentée Lily et des petits nouveaux Triple Axel Blaze, Patatex et Fabionacci pour souder le groupe. Mais attention, ce ne sont pas que des bisounours. Lily est une excellente joueuse, certes moins dangereuse qu’elle ne l’a été en DCL1, mais toujours aussi redoutable, alors que Patatex, Fabionacci et Triple Axel Blaze sont en pleine progression. Le premier est un acharné de la Ranked qui affectionne particulièrement le Building, le second a décroché un impressionnant Top 8 au Pick’n’Ban Tournament, tandis que le dernier se fait doucement un nom au sein de la communauté BW. De son côté, chuva sera envoyé au casse pipe dans cette fameuse poule coupe gorge du RBY. Pas de quoi l’inquiéter cela dit, le personnage est un habitué. Son record de 6V-1D à la récente RBYWC devrait vous rassurer. Sur le banc, entrocefalo, lou dort et Tempo Di Anguria offrent des options viables de la 5G à la 9G, même si l’italien sort d’une traumatisante SPL 2024 où il a terminé avec 0 victoire en 5 matchs. Profdesinnoh peut éventuellement venir en soutien en Old Gens, mais il est évident que c’est le noyau inamovible des Bluffing Despots. Alors probablement sur Feen en ORAS. Après tout, sur un malentendu, ça peut passer.

Vous avez sûrement déjà vu passer un milliard de fois cette fameuse Glimmora Offense avec Primarina, Gouging Fire et Roaring Moon. C’était sûrement Akalli sous ses 36 alts cela dit. Est-ce que vous saviez que le créateur de cette équipe c’était Patatex ? Et bah maintenant c’est le cas. Le néophyte français a réussi à se faire acheter à la toute fin des enchères, et tout le monde imaginait que c’était pour un rôle de sparring partner. Il n’en est rien. Titulaire en SV, Patatex fait ses grands débuts sur la scène internationale. Builder acharné, voici pour lui le moyen de montrer qu’il est bien plus que ça.
Lily
SV OU
Invaincue en SPL en 2023 (5V-0D) et finaliste de la Coupe du Monde avec un record de 6V-3D la même année, la membre de l’OU Council est l’une des valeurs sûres de la 9G. Mais ça, c’était avant. À part une demi-finale en Coupe du Monde il y a quelques mois (3V-2D), Lily a plus de mal à retrouver son rythme depuis la sortie du DLC2. Mais comment lui en vouloir tant il est difficile de trouver un équilibre dans ce Metagame. Créative et intelligente, Lily a tous les arguments pour être très dangereuse dans ce tournoi, surtout avec le soutien de ses coéquipiers pour lui donner le brin de confiance dont elle a besoin.
TDNT
SS OU
14 victoires sur les 15 derniers matchs en compétition officielle, TDNT est possiblement le meilleur joueur actuel en 8G. Mais la fusée brésilienne n’est pas monotâche puisqu’elle vient de se qualifier pour les Playoffs de l’OLT en 9G. TDNT est dans la zone dernièrement, et s’il y reste pendant la CCL, sa série de victoires risque de se prolonger encore un peu plus.
LLiolae
SM OU
Une histoire sans lendemain. C’est comme ça qu’on pourrait décrire la carrière de LLiolae sur Smogon. En 2019, le joueur belge atteint contre toute attente la finale de l’Official Ladder Tournament. Et ensuite, une traversée du désert. De brèves apparitions ici et là, sans convaincre, et puis c’est à peu près tout. LLiolae a eu une magnifique aventure sur un tournoi qu’il a failli remporter, et il n’a jamais semblé retrouver ni son niveau ni la motivation qui ont fait de lui un presque vainqueur de Majeur. Alors qu’est-il venu faire à la CCL ? Se marrer avec ses potes ou montrer à tout le monde qu’il est capable de remettre le couvert ?
Feen
ORAS OU
Quand on sait que des joueurs comme Bushtush, qui a gagné l’Official Smogon Tournament en 2022, n’ont pas été achetés, il est extrêmement étonnant de voir que Feen a réussi à se faire recruter. On a eu beau creuser, le constat est fatidique : mis à part un score de 5V-1D en 2018, le joueur du Bangladesh a eu des performances abyssales en Team Tournaments jusqu’à aujourd’hui. Voyez plutôt : 2 petites victoires pour 21 défaites. Il est quasi impossible de justifier un tel choix, même en essayant d’être le plus positif possible. Après tout pourquoi pas en tant que remplaçant si son apport est bénéfique. Mais carrément titulaire ? Là, sincèrement, il faudrait un miracle pour nous faire mentir.
Triple Axel Blaze

Récemment inscrit sur Smogon il y a moins d’un an, Triple Axel Blaze, ou Cow, s’est fait remarquer en Team Tour sur le circuit secondaire. Forcément vierge en résultat, la Critical League lui offre sa première grande opportunité de marquer les esprits avec une place de titulaire en BW. Ce sera loin d’être facile. Le plus important est qu’il prenne un maximum d’expérience et de plaisir. Souhaitons lui bonne chance, et surtout bon courage !

DPP OU
9 victoires pour 0 défaite en SPL 2024. Je pourrais terminer ma présentation sur ça, mais Void mérite bien qu’on s’attarde sur son sujet. Vétéran du DPP, Void ne joue quasi exclusivement que dans ce Tier. Et le moins que l’on puisse dire, c’est que ça lui réussit. Vainqueur de la SPL 2018 avec les Wolfpack d’ABR et finaliste de la Coupe du Monde 2017 avec Team Europe, il est chaque année depuis maintenant presque 10 ans, l’un des choix naturels pour n’importe quel Manager en 4G. La CCL ne déroge pas à la règle. Joueur très défensif, Void porte une confiance aveugle dans ses équipes fétiches qu’il manie à la perfection. Pourtant très prévisible, personne n’ose le contrer. Alors tant mieux pour lui et tant pis pour eux. Préparez-vous à voir du Zapdos-Swampert-Jirachi-Starmie toutes les semaines !
Zokuru
ADV OU
L'auto-proclamé “Stall Lord” est depuis quelques années un habitué des tournois par équipes. Régulièrement acheté en SPL pour jouer en 2G, Zokuru est loin d’y être ridicule, bien au contraire. Des performances stables en Team Tours mais aussi dans les Majeurs individuels. Des qualifications en Playoffs d’OLT, de Smogon Tour et de Smogon Classic, il s’est aussi distingué l’année dernière en atteignant les demi-finales de la première édition du Smogon Masters. Mais c’est en 3G où il devra faire ses preuves ici en CCL. Quart de finaliste à la toute récente ADV Cup, le français espère montrer qu’il a l’étoffe d’un titulaire dans ce Tier. Reste à savoir si Zokuru va réussir à bien se fondre dans le collectif. Sa personnalité peut être un frein, mais ses connaissances dans presque tous les Tiers pourraient bien justement servir de Boost à son équipe.
BlazingDark
GSC OU
Propulsé titulaire en urgence lors de la Coupe du Monde 2022, BlazingDark assurera 2 victoires précieuses pour aider la France à triompher pour la première fois de son histoire. 2 ans plus tard, il remporte la Smogon Premier League mais avec un record personnel décevant (3V-5D). Il se rattrape rapidement ensuite avec un Top 12 à la récente GSC Cup. Du talent, BlazingDark n’en manque pas. De la confiance et de la régularité, peut-être un peu plus. S’il pouvait continuer sur sa lancée du Smogon Classic, BD pourrait effacer la frustration individuelle de sa SPL.

RBY OU
La terreur du Ladder 1G est bien plus que ça. Chuva est tout simplement considéré comme l’un des trois meilleurs joueurs actuels au monde en RBY. Vainqueur du Winter Seasonal 2022 et finaliste du RBY Invitational 2023, il ne manque presque jamais à l’appel dans les gros évènements 1G depuis plusieurs années. Avec un score de 8V-3D en SPL 2022 et un record général de 14V-3D dans les Circuit Team Tournaments, dont notamment un 6V-1D à la RBY WCOP 2024, il ne fait aucun doute que Chuva sera encore une fois au rendez-vous pour la Critical League. Attention tout de même, ses deux dernières sorties en SPL n’ont pas été très concluantes.

Est-ce un avion ? Est-ce un oiseau ? Non ! C’est le meilleur joueur de l’histoire ! Actuellement 1er et 2e du ladder Random Battle, aussi vainqueur du Smogon Tour et du Smogon Masters en 2023. Michael se démarque également en VGC avec sa belle performance de finaliste au championnat du monde de Pokémon 2023 pour sa première saison de VGC, ainsi que son top 4 au championnat du monde 2024. Très clairement le favori du tier, notre joueur allemand nous montre qu’il est prêt à en découdre avec ses adversaires. Son nom suffit à mettre la pression. Qui pourra battre l’homme d’acier au top de sa forme ?
Fabionacci

Parmi les nouveaux joueurs que le circuit a fait émerger, il y a Fabionacci. Top 8 au Pick and Ban Tournament, le joueur français a réalisé sa première grande performance. Un résultat qui lui permet aujourd’hui d’être titulaire à la Critical League. Comme quoi, les choses peuvent aller très vite quand on prend le temps. Fabionacci va découvrir maintenant toute la différence entre jouer pour soi-même et pour une équipe. Une nouvelle expérience qui fait intégralement partie de son apprentissage, et qui pourrait le faire grandir encore un peu plus.
Bluffing Despots English
Team's Presentation
When your team name is the Bluffing Despots and you draft the Zokuru-Profdesinnoh duo with BlazingDark, you're either suicidal or totally Machiavellian. Perhaps Eoward is both, or simply ignorant. By taking such a decision, irrespective of the intrinsic qualities of the two French starters, Team Belgium's World Cup manager has jeopardized his team's survival before the tournament has even begun. But what was he thinking? One might also ask about the purchase of Feen, who has posted a terrible 7-22 record since... 2016. His tenure may even be the icing on the cake. Similarly, what about the relevance of recruiting LLiolae when the 2019 OLT finalist has been a shadow of his former self ever since, and never seemed to be at home in team tours? Despite this, the Despots have definite qualities. TDNT and Void have a combined total of 23 wins from 24 matches in 2024, WCOP and SPL combined. Are they in-game leaders? They certainly are. But the star of this team is MichaelDerBeste. Omnipresent on all fronts, the German legend is determined to make up for the mistakes of the past, which have earned him an unfortunate reputation as a bad teammate. All the more so as his WCoP and SPL have failed to match his talent, with 5-7 record combined. Fortunately, Eoward can count on the endearing, caring personalities of the experienced Lily and the newcomers Triple Axel Blaze, Patatex, and Fabionacci to bind the group together. But be warned, they're not all sweethearts. Lily is an excellent SV player, admittedly less dangerous than she was in DCL1, but remains as formidable as ever, while Patatex, Fabionacci, and Triple Axel Blaze progress day after day. The first is a ladder fiend with a particular fondness for team building, the second scored an impressive top 8 at the Pick'n'Ban Tournament, while the latter is slowly making a name for himself in the BW community. As for chuva, he'll be off to the races in the famous RBY cut-throat pool. Nothing to worry about, though, as he's a regular. His 6-1 record at the recent RBYWC should reassure you. On the bench, entrocefalo, lou dort and Tempo Di Anguria offer viable options from ORAS to SV, even if the Italian is coming off a traumatic 2024 SPL where he finished with 0 wins in 5 games. Profdesinnoh may come in for support in old gens, but it's obvious that the irreplaceable core of the Bluffing Despots is here to stay. So he might sub in Feen in ORAS. After all, on a misunderstanding, it could happen.

You've probably seen this famous Glimmora offense with Primarina, Gouging Fire, and Roaring Moon a billion times before, right? That was probably Akalli under one of his 36 alts, though. Did you know that the creator of this team was Patatex? Well, you know now. The French neophyte managed to get himself bought in at the very end of the auction, and everyone imagined it was for a sparring partner role. It is even the case, as he starts in SV, making this Patatex debut on the international scene. A relentless builder, this is his chance to show that he's much more than that.
Lily
SV OU
Unbeaten in SPL in 2023 with a 5-0 record, but also a World Cup finalist with a 6-3 record within the same year, the OU Council member was one of SV's best players at the start of SV. But that was before. With the exception of a World Cup semi-finals a few months ago (3-2 record), Lily has had difficulties finding her rhythm since the release of DLC2. But you can't blame her, as it's hard to find a balance in this metagame. Creative and intelligent, Lily has what it takes to be very dangerous in this tournament, especially with the support of her teammates to give her the confidence she needs.
TDNT
SS OU
With 14 victories in the last 15 matches in official competition, TDNT is arguably the best player currently in SS. But the Brazilian rocket has more than one string to his bow, having just qualified for the ongoing OLT playoffs. TDNT has been in the zone lately, and if he stays there during CCL, his winning streak could be extended even further.
LLiolae
SM OU
A story without a tomorrow. That's how you could describe LLiolae's career on Smogon. In 2019, against all odds, the Belgian player reached the final of the Official Ladder Tournament. After that, it's been a wild goose chase. Brief appearances here and there, oftentime unconvincing, and then that's about it. LLiolae had a wonderful adventure in a tournament he almost won, and he never seemed to regain the level or motivation that made him a near-major winner. So what did he sign up for CCL? To have a laugh with his mates, or to show everyone that he can do it again?
Feen
ORAS OU
When you consider that players like Bushtush, who won the Official Smogon Tournament in 2022, weren't bought during the auctions, it's extremely surprising that Feen managed to get themselves recruited. We've dug deep, but the assessment is clear: apart from a 5-1 record in 2018, the player from Bangladesh has performed abysmally in team tournaments to date. Take a look: 2 wins for 21 losses. It's almost impossible to justify such a choice, even if you try to be as positive as possible. After all, why not as a substitute if his contribution is beneficial. But a starter? Honestly, it would take a miracle to prove us wrong.
Triple Axel Blaze
BW OU
Recently registered on Smogon less than a year ago, Triple Axel Blaze, or Cow, has been making a name for himself on Team Tour on the secondary circuit. With no results to speak of, the Critical League offered him his first major opportunity to make his mark as a starter in BW. It won't be easy. The most important thing is for him to gain maximum experience and enjoyment. Let's wish him good luck !
Void
DPP OU
9 wins for 0 losses in the 2024 SPL. I could end my presentation on this, but Void deserves to be talked about more. A DPP veteran, Void almost exclusively plays the tier. And it works for him, to say the least. He has won SPL in 2018 with ABR’s Wolfpacks and has been a finalist of the 2017 World Cup with team Europe. Surely, Void is one of the natural choices for any manager in DPP every year, and has been for almost 10 years. A very defensive player, Void has blind faith in his fetish teams, which he handles to perfection. Yet he's so predictable that no one dares counter him. So good for him and bad for them. Prepare to see Zapdos-Swampert-Jirachi-Starmie every week!
Zokuru
ADV OU
The self-proclaimed “Stall Lord” has been a regular at team tournaments for some years now. Regularly bought into the SPL to play GSC, Zokuru is far from ridiculous - on the contrary. Stable performances in team tours but also in individual major tournaments, he has already qualified for OLT, Smogon Tour and Smogon Classic playoffs. He also distinguished himself last year by reaching the semi-finals of the inaugural Smogon Masters. But it's in ADV that he'll have to prove himself here in CCL. A quarter-finalist at the recent ADV Cup, the Frenchman is hoping to show that he has the makings of a regular in this tier. It remains to be seen how well Zokuru will fit into the team. His personality may be a hindrance, but his knowledge of almost every tier could well serve as a boost to his team.

GSC OU
BlazingDark has been given an emergency place at the 2022 World Cup, and will secure 2 precious victories to help France triumph for the first time in their history. 2 years later, he won the Smogon Premier League but with a disappointing personal record (3W-5L). He quickly made up for it with a Top 12 finish at the recent GSC Cup. BlazingDark has no shortage of talent. Confidence and consistency, perhaps a little more. If he could keep up the momentum of the Smogon Classic, BD could erase the individual frustration of his SPL.
Chuva
RBY OU
The terror of the RBY ladder is much more than that. Quite simply, Chuva is considered one of the world's top 3 RBY players. Winner of the 2022 Winter Seasonal and finalist in the 2023 RBY Invitational, he's hardly ever missed out on the big RBY events in recent years. With an 8-3 record in the 2022 SPL and an overall 14-3 record in circuit team tournaments, including a 6-1 record in the 2024 RBY WCOP, there's no doubt that Chuva will once again be in top form in the Critical League. However, his last two SPL outings were not very conclusive, so we’ll pay attention.

Is it a plane? Is it a bird? No! It’s the best player in history! Currently first and second in the Random Battle ladder, he also won the Smogon Tour and the Smogon Masters in 2023. Moreover, Michael stands out in VGC with his great performance as a finalist at the 2023 Pokémon World Championships for his first VGC season, as well as his top 4 finish at the 2024 Pokémon World Championships. Clearly the favorite of the tier, our German player shows us that he is ready to take on his opponents. His name is enough to put pressure onto his opponents. One of the new players to emerge from the circuit is Fabionacci. The French player achieved his first major performance with a top 8 in the Pick’n’Ban Tournament. A result which has now earned him a place in the Critical League. This just goes to show that things can happen very quickly if you take the time. Fabionacci will now discover the difference between playing for himself and playing for a team. A new experience that is an integral part of his apprenticeship, one that could help him grow even more.

Présentation de l'équipe
Dans un style très différent de ses deux collègues italiens, Howkings a plutôt préféré distiller la peur à la lecture de sa composition. Les Schedule Demons comptent dans ses rangs des joueurs de renommée internationale. INSULT tout d’abord, est une merveille de joueur. Sur les 3 Majeurs par équipes sur Smogon, voilà ce que ça donne depuis 2019 : 51 victoires sur 81 parties jouées. C’est colossal à ce niveau surtout sur une période aussi prolongée. Mis à part une contre-performance la saison dernière, le génie américain finit systématiquement avec un gros score positif. Souhaitons aux Demons qu’INSULT sorte le grand jeu. Mais il n’est pas le seul crack de cette équipe. Pais se découvre un talent inné sur le jeu, presque 10 ans après son inscription sur le site. 5V-1D à sa première participation en Coupe du Monde cette saison, et le voilà propulsé sur le devant de la scène avec une forte attente autour de lui. Continuons sur les italiens pendant qu’on y est. L’ex-GOAT du RBY marcoasd13 nous fait l’immense honneur de participer à la Critical League. Et quand on voit ses performances dernièrement, une 3e place minimum au RBY Invitational, on se dit qu’il n’est pas venu ici pour faire de la figuration. Luigi, clean et pj fermeront le core Fairy Gens. Le vainqueur du Smogon Tour revient bien cette année après une période très compliquée après son sacre en 2019, et même si les deux jeunes louveteaux qui l’accompagnent ne possèdent pas son palmarès, ils n’ont rien à lui envier dernièrement. Insolents de réussite, pj et clean avancent sûrs de leurs forces dans cette CCL. Et le pire dans tout ça, c’est que Howkings a aussi réussi à dénicher d’excellents joueurs dans les Old Gens. Endill et Pkel SweeTforU ont enregistré de multiples performances majeures dans les Invitationals et sur le circuit secondaire. Il faudra évidemment compter sur eux dans ce championnat. Fakee et Coco (anciennement Hellpowna) ont un pedigree plus maigre mais sont loin d’être des boulets pour leur équipe. Bien au contraire. Sans aller chercher nécessairement un gros résultat, un score positif semble largement à leur portée. Par contre, Sempra et Mimikyu Stardust, respectivement en VGC et en PnB, ne visent rien d’autre qu’une grosse performance. Le canadien a été impérial en 2023 et démontre bien qu’il est capable de s’asseoir à la table des tous meilleurs. Il cherchera évidemment à la prouver une nouvelle fois sur cette compétition. Du côté du banc de touche, le très sous-estimé Yovan33321 est le plus à même de subtiliser une place de titulaire, la plus probable étant celle de Mimikyu Stardust si le Ladder Hero ne parvient pas à se mettre au niveau. Mais pour le coup, c’est vraiment un problème de riche auquel Howkings devrait faire face si la situation se présentait. Les Demons font peur, vraiment très peur.

Insult
SV OU
Le joueur préféré de ton joueur préféré. Insult est bourré de talent, c’est constamment un plaisir de le voir jouer dans chacun des tournois auxquels il participe. Personnalité discrète, Insult n’est pas reconnu à sa juste valeur, sûrement parce qu’il lui manque encore ce titre majeur individuel qui l’empêche d’être comparé aux meilleurs. Pourtant, le demi finaliste de l’OST 2020 et du dernier Official Ladder Tournament est souvent cité par ses compères comme un joueur d’exception. Encore qualifié pour les Playoffs de l’OLT cette année, le vainqueur de la Smogon Champions League entend bien inscrire son nom à côté de ceux des GOATs. Meilleur joueur SV du tournoi ? Je prends le pari.
Pais
SV OU
Petit protégé d’Empo et Tricking, Pais pourrait bien incarner la relève italienne. Sa première Coupe du Monde s’est soldée par une finale et un record de 5 victoires pour 1 défaite. Plutôt pas mal pour une première n’est-ce pas ? Mais à part ça, peu de choses sont connues au à son sujet puisqu’il vient tout juste de se lancer dans la compétition. Pourtant, il a rejoint Smogon en 2015. Alors à quoi est due cette soudaine montée en puissance ? Simple coup de chance ou vrai potentiel ? On risque d’en savoir un peu plus d’ici peu de temps.
Clean
SS OU
Expert fanatique de la 8G, clean s’est récemment qualifié aux Playoffs de l’OLT en 9G, démontrant une certaine envie d’élargir son champ de compétences. Joueur calme et réfléchi, il se positionne dorénavant comme une option fiable et flexible. Sa connaissance gargantuesque de la 8G sera un atout majeur pour son équipe, d’autant plus si son talent est utilisé en 9G.
Luigi
SM OU
À la question “quelle a été la pire finale du Smogon Tour de l’histoire ?”, il y a de fortes chances qu’on vous réponde Z0mOG vs Finchinator, ou Soulwind vs Luigi. En 2019, le joueur brésilien prolonge encore un peu plus la malédiction du joueur espagnol, et c’est de manière assez injuste ce que beaucoup se souviennent de lui. D’ailleurs, quelques mois auparavant, il avait remporté la SPL avec les Ruiners en ne jouant que 2 matches, pour 2 défaites. Donc Luigi possède un palmarès que plus de 99% des joueurs envient, et pourtant sa réputation n’est pas à la hauteur de son armoire à trophées. Mais on n’arrive pas là par hasard, et il est évident que le champion du Smogon Tour 27 a les capacités de faire taire ses détracteurs. En a-t-il seulement l’envie ?

ORAS OU
Si l’Inde a réussi à atteindre le 1er quart de finale de Coupe du Monde de son histoire cette saison, c’est surtout grâce à pj et ses 6 victoires en 6 rencontres. Joueur extrêmement agressif, la pression semble être un facteur de motivation supplémentaire pour lui. Avec un record de 7V-3D en SPL 2023 et une 3e place à l’ORAS Invitational 2023, pj s’avance comme étant l’une des stars de la 6G sur ce tournoi. Sans les noms ronflants du Tier pour lui faire de l’ombre, il est en capacité d’aller chercher le meilleur score de la CCL.
Fakee
BW OU
Quand Fakee a remporté la BWPL 2023 en remportant le Tie Break décisif, peut-être qu’il a eu un déclic. Parce que derrière, Fakee enchaîne avec le 3e meilleur record en BW OU lors de la RoAPL 2024 (4V-3D). Et ce sont sûrement ces récentes performances qui lui ont valu une place de titulaire dans cette Critical League. Pour une nouvelle prouesse ?
Pkel
DPP OU
La Ranked DPP OU est indissociable de PkelSweetforU. Il est le Ladder 4G OU de Pokémon Showdown. Mais il est devenu plus que ça dernièrement. C’est maintenant un excellent joueur de tournois. Et les résultats sont plus que convaincants. Vainqueur du DPP Global Championship 2024 sans aucune défaite à son actif, Pkel enchaîne avec deux performances cliniques : 6V-2D en DPPPL et 5V-1D en RoAPL. Avec des builds atypiques de Ladder Hero, Pkel SweeTforU sait mettre des petites touches personnelles qui lui permettent de surprendre ses adversaires. Si vous voulez voir de l’action en 4G, c’est vers lui qu’il faudra se tourner.
Endill
ADV OU
Quand on voit le score peu flatteur d’Endill en SPL (1V-8D), on se dit que c’est une aberration comparée à ses résultats dans les grands évènements annexes. Top 6 à l'ADV Invitational, vainqueur de l’ADV Winter Seasonal 2020, Top 6 au Jirachee's Invitational, Top 6 à l’ADV Winter Seasonal 2024, Top 6 à l’ADV Seasonal 2020, et un Top 7 au Callous Invitational 5, il a plus que prouvé qu'il était un compétiteur hors pair. Sa constance et son talent en font un joueur redouté dans le Tier, capable de rivaliser avec les meilleurs. Dans cette poule, Endill est non seulement un prétendant sérieux, mais aussi un modèle de régularité et de performance.
Coco
GSC OU
Omniprésent sur le circuit secondaire, Hellpowna a décidé de faire table rase du passé en se renommant Coco. Vétéran de la scène compétitive, le vainqueur de la SPL 2013 possède une connaissance élargie des Old Gens. Demi-finaliste de la GSC Cup en 2022, l’italien était enfin parvenu à rebondir après avoir manqué d’un rien les Playoffs du Smogon Classic en 2016. Hellpowna est certes capable de proposer un très bon niveau de jeu, mais on reste prudent avec lui car jusque-là, Coco a souvent été décevant.
Marcoasd
RBY OU
Marcoasd est tout simplement une légende vivante du RBY, souvent considéré comme le meilleur joueur de tous les temps dans ce tier. Avant que Heroic Troller, l'actuel prétendant au titre de numéro un en RBY, ne devienne un grand nom, c'est Marcoasd qui lui a appris les subtilités du tier. Avec un palmarès impressionnant, Marcoasd a pratiquement tout gagné en RBY, s'imposant comme une référence incontournable. Sa maîtrise et sa compréhension de la première génération sont inégalées, et son influence sur la scène compétitive du tier reste indélébile. Pour quiconque s'aventure dans l'univers du RBY, Marcoasd est le joueur à battre, le modèle à suivre, et la véritable incarnation de l'excellence. Quand bien même la pool RBY est la plus stackée du tournoi, il y fait office de colosse à abattre pour l’intégralité des autres équipes, ayant à l’heure actuelle atteint le top 3 de l’invitational RBY. À voir si l’ancien titan saura faire place à la nouvelle génération.
Sempra
VGC
Sempra a connu une année 2023 exceptionnelle, se hissant à la première place du Regional de Vancouver et terminant cinquième aux Worlds, des résultats qui témoignent de son talent indéniable. Sa flexibilité sur le terrain est l'une de ses plus grandes forces, lui permettant de s'adapter à n'importe quelle situation et d'exploiter au mieux les opportunités qui se présentent. Avec une telle performance à son actif, Sempra est un joueur redoutable que ses adversaires ne peuvent pas se permettre de sous-estimer. Ses succès récents font de lui un compétiteur à suivre de très près, et qui pourrait prétendre aller chercher des victoires contre les plus grands, s’il s’en donne les moyens.
Mimikyu Stardust
PnB
Amoureux inconditionnel du Ladder, Mimikyu Stardust est progressivement en train de se faire une petite place sur la scène compétitive. Une qualification en Playoffs de l’OLT la saison dernière, une première participation en SPL cette année, et une finale au Dire Climb Tournament il y a quelques mois en ne perdant seulement que contre Vertex au match décisif. Personnalité enthousiaste et passionnée, sa plus value apportée aussi bien en tant que joueur que support fait de lui un achat indéniablement rentable pour n’importe quelle équipe. Mimikyu fait partie de ces personnes qui unifient un groupe et pour lesquelles on a envie de se donner à 110%. Et ça tombe bien, il faudra au moins ça pour espérer gagner.

In a style very different from that of his two Italian colleagues, Howkings preferred to distill fear when reading his line-up. The Schedule Demons feature some internationally renowned players. And when you look at his recent performances, with a 3rd place at the RBY Invitational, you know he did sign up here to play a minor role. Luigi, clean, and pj will finish the fairy gens core. The Smogon Tour winner is coming back well this year after a very complicated period following his 2019 crown, and even if the two young cubs accompanying him don't have his track record, they have nothing to envy him lately. Insolently successful, pj and clean are advancing confidently in this CCL. Worst of all, Howkings has also managed to unearth some excellent players in old gens. Endill and Pkel SweeTforU have recorded multiple major performances in Invitationals and on the secondary circuit. They'll be a force to be reckoned with in this tournament. Fakee and Coco (formerly Hellpowna) have a leaner pedigree but are far from being a liability to their team. Quite the contrary, in fact. Without necessarily going for a big result, a positive record seems well within their reach. On the other hand, Sempra and Mimikyu Stardust, in VGC and PnB respectively, are aiming for nothing less than a big performance. The Canadian was imperial in 2023 and has shown that he is capable of being a top player. He'll be out to prove it once again in this competition. On the bench, the highly underrated Yovan33321 is the most likely candidate for a starting berth, the most likely being Mimikyu Stardust if the ladder hero fails to step up to the mark. But for the time being, it's really a rich man's problem that Howkings would have to deal with if the situation arose. The Demons are scary, very scary.

A quiet personality, Insult doesn't get the recognition he deserves, probably because he still lacks that individual major title that prevents him from being compared to the best. And yet, the semi-finalist at the 2020 OST and the 2023 Official Ladder Tournament is often cited by his compatriots as an exceptional player. Qualified for the OLT Playoffs yet again this year, the winner of the 2019 Smogon Snake Draft intends to write his name alongside those of the GOATs. Best SV player of the tournament? I'll take that bet.

A protégé of Empo and Tricking, Pais could well be part of Italy’s next generation of great players. His first World Cup ended with a finals and a 5-1 record; not bad for a first-timer, is it? But apart from that, not much is known about him since he's only just started competing. Yet he joined Smogon in 2015. So what's behind his sudden rise to prominence? Just a stroke of luck or real potential? We may know a little more before long.

A fanatical SS expert, clean recently qualified for the ongoing OLT Playoffs, demonstrating a certain desire to broaden his skill set. A calm and thoughtful player, he now positions himself as a reliable and flexible option. His gargantuan knowledge of SS will be a major asset to his team, all the more so if his talent is utilized in SV.

To the question “What was the worst Smogon Tour finals in history?”, chances are you'll be told z0mOG vs Finchinator, or Soulwind vs Luigi. In 2019, the Brazilian player extends the curse of the Spanish player even further, and it's rather unfair what many remember him for. In fact, just a few months earlier, he had won the SPL with the Ruiners, playing just 2 matches and losing them both. So Luigi has achieved more than 99% of players, and yet his reputation doesn't match his trophy cabinet. But you don't get there by chance, and it's clear that the Smogon Tour 27 champion has the ability to silence his detractors. But does he even have the desire?

If India has managed to reach its first World Cup quarter-finals in their history this season, it's mainly thanks to pj and his 6 wins in 6 matches. pj is an extremely aggressive player, and pressure seems to be an additional motivating factor for him. With a 7-3 record in the 2023 SPL and a 3rd place finish at the 2023 ORAS Invitational, pj is shaping up to be one of the stars of ORAS in this tournament. Without the high-profile names of the tier to overshadow him, he's in a position to go for the top record in CCL.

When Fakee won the BWPL 2023 by clutching the decisive Tie Break, maybe something clicked for him. Because after that, Fakee follows up with the 3rd best record in BW OU at RoAPL 2024 (4W-3L). And it's surely these recent performances that have earned him a place in this Critical League. For a new achievement?

DPP OU Ranked is an integral part of PkelSweetforU. He's the Ladder 4G OU of Pokémon Showdown. But he's become more than that lately. He's now an excellent tournament player. And the results are more than convincing. Winner of the DPP Global Championship 2024 without defeat, Pkel follows up with two clinical performances: 6W-2L in DPPPL and 5W-1L in RoAPL. With his atypical Ladder Hero builds, Pkel SweeTforU knows how to add his own personal touches to surprise his opponents. If you want to see action in Gen 4, he's the one to turn to.

When you see Endill's unflattering score in the SPL (1V-8D), you think it's an aberration compared to his results in the major side events. Top 6 at the ADV Invitational, winner of the ADV Winter Seasonal 2020, Top 6 at Jirachee's Invitational, Top 6 at the ADV Winter Seasonal 2024, Top 6 at the ADV Seasonal 2020, and a Top 7 at the Callous Invitational 5, he has more than proved himself an outstanding competitor. His consistency and talent make him a feared player in the Tier, capable of competing with the best. In this ADV pool, Endill is not only a serious contender, but also a model of consistency and performance.
Coco
GSC OU
Omnipresent on the secondary circuit, Hellpowna has decided to wipe the slate clean by renaming itself Coco. A veteran of the competitive scene, the 2013 SPL winner has an extensive knowledge of Old Gens. A semi-finalist in the GSC Cup in 2022, the Italian had finally managed to bounce back after missing out on the Smogon Classic Playoffs by a whisker in 2016. Hellpowna is certainly capable of offering a very good level of play, but we remain cautious with him because Coco has often been disappointing up to now.
Marcoasd

Marcoasd is quite simply a living RBY legend, often regarded as the best player of all time in this tier. Before Heroic Troller, the current RBY number one contender, became a household name, it was Marcoasd who taught him the intricacies of the tier. With an impressive track record, Marcoasd has won virtually everything in RBY. His mastery and understanding of the first generation is unrivaled, and his influence on the competitive tier scene remains indelible. For anyone venturing into the RBY world, Marcoasd is the player to beat, the role model to follow, and the true embodiment of excellence. Even though the RBY pool is the most stacked pool in the tournament, he is a colossus to be beaten by all the other teams, having currently reached the top 3 of the RBY Invitational. It remains to be seen whether the old titan will make way for the new generation.

Sempra had an exceptional year in 2023, finishing first in the Vancouver Regional and fifth in the Pokémon World Championships , results that testify to his undeniable talent. His flexibility in the field is one of his greatest strengths, enabling him to adapt to any situation and make the most of any opportunity. With this kind of performance under his belt, Sempra is a formidable player whom opponents cannot afford to underestimate. His recent successes make him a competitor to keep a close eye on, and one who could go on to claim victories against the very best, if he gives himself the means to do so.
Mimikyu Stardust

Mimikyu Stardust is an unconditional lover of the OU ladder gradually carving out a niche for himself on the competitive scene, with a qualification for the OLT playoffs last season, a first appearance in SPL this year, and a finals in the Dire Climb Tournament a month ago, losing only to Vertex in the deciding game. An enthusiastic and passionate personality, his added value both as a player and support makes him an undeniably profitable purchase for any team. Mimikyu is one of those people who unify a group and make you want to give 110%. And that's just what he'll need if he wants to win.

Quand Akalli s’est inscrit à la Smogon Champions League en tant que Manager, tout le monde a cru à une blague. Imaginez notre étonnement quand, dans la foulée, il a également proposé ses services pour la Critical League. En implosion totale après 12 mois extraordinaires sur les Majeurs individuels de Smogon et les Majeurs individuels de Coup Critique, le double vainqueur du Pick’n’Ban Tournament et du Spiriteam Shackle Tournament veut prendre du recul sur le jeu en se faufilant dans les chaussures d’un capitaine d’équipe. Auteur d’une Draft maîtrisée d’une main de maître, Ak a décidé de s’appuyer sur ses camarades préférés pour aller chercher un 3e titre. Les petits anges en question sont nul autre que Welli0u, Hellom et Xrn. Joueur le plus cher du tournoi (32 000 PokeDollars), le champion du monde français domine outrageusement la 7G depuis 4 ans. C’est un habitué des grands rendez-vous et il devrait vraisemblablement terminer meilleur joueur de sa poule. Hellom lui est… le meilleur joueur de la saison en Team Tours. 10 victoires en 11 rencontres en SPL, meilleur score du tournoi, auxquelles viennent s’ajouter 2 nouvelles victoires en autant de matchs en WCOP. Pardonnez du peu. Et ce n’est pas le fait qu’il soit titulaire en 5G plutôt qu’en 9G qui devrait le stopper dans son élan. À côté de ces deux fauves Xrn peut avoir l’impression d’être un petit chat, mais l’américain est loin d’être pathétique avec ses 29 victoires pour 20 défaites en Majeurs par équipes. Un trio d’anges n’est-ce pas ? Plutôt des vampires assoiffés par la gagne plutôt. Et en plus ils seront chaleureusement accompagnés. TJ est de retour après sa splendide année 2022 où il a remporté la SPL et le Smogon Tour, tandis que zS continue son ascension fulgurante après son Top 8 à l’OST et une Coupe du Monde très convaincante (4V-2D). Si quelques légers doutes peuvent subsister sur l’état de forme de TJ après une si longue absence, c’est en tout cas nettement plus marqué du côté de Corazan. Disparu de la circulation après sa légendaire année 2022 où il a remporté la WCOP sans perdre le moindre de matchs, puis atteint la finale de l’OLT, le français est un vrai point d’interrogation. Les premières rencontres devraient lever le voile très vite cependant. Et comme les “Good Games” Angels semblent avoir des cracks accomplis ou en devenir à chaque ligne, les Old Gens ne dérogent pas à la règle. Le duo SEA-Kenix multiplie les performances en SPL et sur le circuit secondaire, tandis que Lazulli et Nicole sont en pleine mutation. Ces quatre-là seront particulièrement intéressants à suivre lors de cette Critical League. Enfin, Akaru Kokuyo et Seasons devraient assurer le strict minimum. Les deux possèdent un potentiel plus que avéré, mais ils n’ont pas le CV le plus fourni sur les dernières saisons. Attention quand même, Akaru est une ancienne légende du VGC et Seasons est sûrement l’un des plus grands experts théoriques de la 6G. En fait, la formation des Angels est tellement forte, que des joueurs comme Hiro ou Antonazz se retrouvent cantonnés au banc. Et on a du mal à imaginer qu’ils aient du temps de jeu, eux comme GLHFno007 et spell. En somme, Ak a rapidement su mettre à profit ses talents de joueur pour devenir un fin stratège en tant que Coach. Ne vous fiez pas aux apparences. Les “Good Game” Angels sont moins sympathiques qu’ils en ont l’air.

Indéniablement l’une des figures majeures de l’année 2022 en remportant coup sur coup la Smogon Premier League et le Smogon Tour, TJ fait son grand retour après avoir lui aussi été écarté de manière permanente du site américain. Certains le disent rouillé, d’autres le pensent encore capable de grandes choses. Mais ne boudons pas notre plaisir de voir un tel joueur participer à cette CCL. TJ aura besoin de support, parce qu’il n’est pas réputé pour être un grand Builder et parce qu’il a besoin d’être motivé. Mais si l’environnement de son équipe le met dans les meilleures conditions, alors le TJ version 2024 fera des ravages.
zS
SV OU
Connu comme étant un joueur particulièrement flexible et polyvalent, zS est passé des Low Tiers à l’OverUsed pour honorer sa première participation en Coupe du Monde avec Team Italie cette année. Sans surprise, c’est avec un record de 4V-2D qu’il a bouclé un tournoi dans lequel il a atteint la finale. Soucieux de toujours construire chacune de ses équipes, zS possède un style très personnel qui lui permet de se démarquer des autres. Le quart de finaliste de l’OST 2024 est une étoile montante, et il serait dommage de la laisser filer.
Corazan
SS OU
L’un des héros de la formidable épopée 2022 de l’équipe de France en Coupe de Monde fait son grand retour. Absolument intouchable sur toute la compétition, Corazan avait bouclé le tournoi sans aucune défaite. Sur sa lancée, il avait atteint la finale de l’Official Ladder Tournament dans la foulée sans perdre la moindre rencontre. Démentiel. Depuis, Corazan est quelque peu en retrait de la scène compétitive. Pas le plus grand adorateur de la 9G, le mousquetaire souhaite regoûter au parfum de la victoire dans son Tier fêtiche. Comme toujours avec Corazan, ses performances dépendent fortement de son état d’esprit.
Welli0u
SM OU
Showman The Well, Le Tribal Chief, ou encore Embrace the Darkness, autant de surnoms qui définissent le meilleur joueur Français sur Smogon depuis plusieurs années. Actuellement dans une forme olympique avec une qualification en Playoffs de l’OLT, une demi-finale au Smogon Tour, un record de 6V-4D en SPL, ainsi qu’une place dans le Top 16 au Smogon Classic, Welli0u pourrait aisément être le meilleur joueur du tournoi s’il reste dans la lignée de ses dernières sorties en 7G (8V-1D en 2020, 7V-2D en 2021, 9V-2D en 2022). Un monstre de régularité.
Seasons
ORAS OU
Celui que l’on surnomme « Capo dei Capi » a peut-être pris conscience que l’on n’est jamais mieux servi que par soi-même. Capitaine en ORASPL et ADPL la saison dernière, il a emmené à chaque fois son équipe jusqu’en finale. Pour un résultat équivalent. De nouveau Manager en ORASPL cette année, Seasons profite de la CCL pour se relancer après une SPL 2024 très décevante (1V-5D). Mais cette poule devrait être à la portée de celui qui a popularisé Cofagrigus en 6G. À lui de réussir là où ses joueurs ont échoué.
Hellom
BW OU
Hellom a réalisé une performance incroyable en SPL, avec un impressionnant record de 10-1 en SV, restant invaincu jusqu'au tiebreak final. Cependant, pour ce tournoi, il a choisi de ne pas jouer son tier de prédilection, ce qui en a surpris plus d'un. Avec Nicole occupant le slot RBY dans son équipe, premier tier rentré par Hellom, il a donc dû se tourner vers le second, le BW. Bien qu'il n'ait pas joué dans ce tier depuis au moins un an, il n'est pas totalement inexpérimenté et reste un joueur honorable de la cinquième génération. Son passage en BW sera suivi de près, car même s'il s'éloigne de son terrain de chasse favori, son talent et sa capacité n’en seront probablement pas amoindris.
Lazuli
DPP OU
Lazuli est l'un de ces joueurs qui, bien que discret, a su se faire un nom au fil des années grâce à sa persévérance et sa maîtrise du jeu. Présent sur la scène compétitive depuis 8 ans, il a récemment atteint les demi-finales de la DPP Cup 2023, prouvant qu'il est loin d'être un novice dans le domaine. Lazuli excelle particulièrement en tant que pilote, où son instinct et ses décisions en match sont souvent irréprochables. Cependant, son talon d'Achille réside dans le building, un domaine où il peine à trouver la même efficacité. Malgré cette faiblesse, son expérience et son jeu en match font de lui un adversaire redoutable, capable de surprendre n'importe qui lorsqu'il est en pleine forme. La Critical League pourrait bien être l'occasion pour lui de prouver qu'il peut surmonter ses lacunes en building et se hisser au sommet.
SEA
ADV OU
Vainqueure de l'ADV Seasonal et de l'ADVPL à 4 reprises, SEA est une joueuse plus qu’accomplie en 3G. Titulaire en SPL cette année pour la première fois, la finaliste de l’ADV Invitational 2023 sera de la partie pour cette CCL. Avec pour envie de faire encore mieux que son record très honorable de 5V-4D. SEA se sait particulièrement attendue dans cette Critical League, et pour parvenir à ses fins, elle devra compter sur sa créativité dans le Builder. À elle maintenant d’assumer son nouveau statut de mastodonte de l’ADV.
Kenix
GSC OU
Excellent joueur RBY, Kenix reste sans conteste l'un des favoris de la pool GSC, et pour de bonnes raisons. Sa constance et ses performances régulières au fil des années en ont fait un nom respecté sur la scène compétitive. Avec plusieurs participations remarquées lors des différentes saisons de SPL auxquelles il a participé, la dernière en date s’étant soldée par un très solide score de 6V-3D, Kenix a prouvé qu'il était un joueur sur lequel on peut compter. Ses résultats aux GSC Invitationals, où il a su rivaliser avec les meilleurs, et son 8-0 en ROAPL, viennent confirmer son statut de pilier dans ce tier. Solide et méthodique, Kenix est le genre de joueur qui ne laisse rien au hasard, et c'est cette rigueur qui fait de lui un adversaire redouté dans la Critical League.
Nicole
RBY OU
Nicole est une joueuse compétente et talentueuse, qui se trouve à la porte de la SPL, étant très proche d'être recrutée l'année prochaine. Récemment vainqueur du RBY Summer Seasonal en 2023, elle a réussi à se créer une réputation au sein d’une communauté dominée par des titans. Déjà une prouesse en soi. Mais il faudra faire encore plus pour qu’on se souvienne de son nom comme étant une grande joueuse RBY. Et comme tous les tournois en 1G depuis une décennie, la Critical League verra les indéboulonnables du Tier s’entretuer. Si Nicole arrive à survivre, ça fera une ligne de plus à ajouter sur son CV.
Akaru Kokuyo
VGC
Akaru est un joueur de VGC expérimenté avec un palmarès respectable. Il a remporté deux championnats régionaux, en 2015 et 2016, montrant une maîtrise constante du jeu compétitif. En 2016, Akaru a également ajouté un titre de champion de mi-saison à son actif et a terminé en tant que finaliste d’un national, ce qui souligne sa capacité à performer au plus haut niveau. Son parcours le place parmi les joueurs à surveiller, à voir si cela suffira face au top 3 de l’enfer de sa pool.
Xrn
PnB
Joueur ultra polyvalent, Xrn le prouve une nouvelle fois en s’alignant dans le format PnB sur cette CCL. Capable aussi bien de claquer un 9V-1D en Doubles lors de la SCL 2023, puis de poursuivre par un très solide 6V-3D en SV sur la SPL 2024, il n’y a aucune raison pour que ce tournoi ne soit pas une nouvelle réussite pour lui. Xrn puise justement sa motivation dans chaque nouveau challenge qu’il affronte. Se définissant comme un “PnB enjoyer”, il n’est pas impossible qu’il éclabousse le tournoi de tout son talent.

Imagine our astonishment when, in the same breath, he also offered his services for the Critical League. He's a regular in the big events and is likely to finish as the best player in his pool. And the fact that he's starting in BW rather than SV shouldn't stop him in his tracks. If there are slight doubts about TJ's form after such a long absence, so is Corazan. After his legendary 2022 season, when he won WCoP without losing a single match and reached OLT finals, the Frenchman remains a real question mark. However, the first matches should soon reveal all. And just as the “Good Games” Angels seem to only have top-tier talent in fairy gens, old gens are no exception to the rule. The SEA-Kenix duo are now regulars in SPL and on the secondary circuit, while Lazulli and Nicole are in full mutation. These four will be particularly interesting to follow in this Critical League. Finally, Akaru Kokuyo and Seasons should provide the bare minimum. Both have proven potential, but they don't have the most extensive résumés as of late. Akaru is a former VGC legend, and Seasons is surely one of ORAS's greatest theoretical experts. In fact, the Angels' formation is so strong that players like Hiro and Antonazz find themselves confined to the bench. And it's hard to imagine them getting any playing time, like GLHFno007 and spell. All in all, Ak has quickly turned his talents as a player into a fine strategist as a coach. Don't be fooled by appearances. The “Good Game” Angels aren't as nice as they look.

Undoubtedly one of the major figures of 2022, winning back-to-back Smogon Premier League and Smogon Tour titles, TJ makes his comeback after also being permanently sidelined from the American site. Some say he's rusty, others think he's still capable of great things. But let's not deny ourselves the pleasure of seeing such a player take part in this CCL. TJ will need support, because he's not known for being a great builder and because he needs to be motivated. But if his team's environment puts him in the best possible conditions, then 2024 TJ will wreak havoc.

SV OU
Known as a particularly flexible and versatile player, zS switched from low tiers to OU to honor his first World Cup appearance with Team Italy this year. Unsurprisingly, it was with a 4-2 record that he completed a tournament in which he reached the finals. Always striving to build each and every one of his teams, zS has a very personal style that sets him apart from the rest. The 2024 OST quarter-finalist is definitely a rising star!
Corazan
SS OU
One of the heroes of Team France’s incredible 2022 World Cup triumph is making a comeback. Absolutely untouchable throughout the competition, Corazan finished the tournament unbeaten. He went on to reach the finals of the Official Ladder Tournament without losing a single match. Incredible. Since then, Corazan has been somewhat withdrawn from the competitive scene. Not the biggest SV fan, the musketeer is keen to taste victory again in his favorite tier. As always with Corazan, his performances depend heavily on his state of mind.

SM OU
Showman The Well, The Tribal Chief, Embrace the Darkness - these are just some of the nicknames that have come to define the best French player on Smogon for several years now. Currently in top form, with a recent qualification for the OLT Playoffs, a Smogon Tour semi-finals, a 6-4 SPL record, and a top 16 finish in the Smogon Classic, Welli0u could easily be the tournament's best player if he continues in the vein of his recent SM outings (8-1 in 2020, 7-2 in 2021, 9-2 in 2022).

The man nicknamed “Capo dei Capi” may have realized that you're never better served than by yourself. Captain in ORASPL and ADPL last season, he took his team all the way to the finals each time. Both to disappointing endings. Back as ORASPL manager this year, Seasons is taking advantage of CCL to get back on track after a very disappointing 2024 SPL, with a 1-5 record. But this pool should be well within the grasp of the man who popularized Cofagrigus in ORAS. It's up to him to succeed where his players have failed.
Hellom
BW OU
Hellom put in an incredible performance in SPL, with an impressive 10-1 record in SV, remaining unbeaten until the finals tiebreak. However, for this tournament, he chose not to play his preferred tier, which surprised many. With Nicole occupying the RBY slot in his team, the first tier entered when signing up, he had to turn to his second choice, BW. Although he hasn't played in this tier for at least a year, he's not totally inexperienced and remains an honorable BW player. We'll be keeping a close eye on his transition to the tier, because even if he moves away from his favorite hunting ground, his talent and ability will probably not be diminished.
Lazuli
DPP OU
Lazuli is one of those players who, although discreet, has made a name for himself over the years thanks to his perseverance and mastery of the game. A regular on the competitive scene for the past 8 years, he recently reached the semi-finals of the 2023 DPP Cup, proving that he is far from being a novice in the field. Lazuli particularly excels at piloting teams, where his instincts and in-game decisions are often beyond reproach. However, his Achilles heel lies in building, an area where he struggles to find the same efficiency. Despite this weakness, his experience and in-game play make him a formidable opponent, capable of surprising anyone when he's in top form. The Critical League could well be the opportunity for him to prove that he can overcome his shortcomings in building and rise to the top.

Winner of the ADV Seasonal in 2022, as well as ADVPL on 4 different occasions, SEA is a more than accomplished player in ADV. This year's 2023 ADV Invitational finalist posted a very respectable 5-4 record during the last SPL. Kenix
GSC OU
An excellent RBY player, Kenix remains without doubt one of the favorites in the GSC pool, and for good reason. His consistency and regular performances over the years have made him a respected name on the competitive scene. With several notable appearances in the various SPL seasons in which he has participated, the most recent resulting in a very solid 6-3 record. Kenix has proved that he is a player to be reckoned with. His results in the GSC Invitationals, where he competed with the best, and his 8-0 in RoAPL, confirm his status as a pillar in this tier. Solid and methodical, Kenix is the kind of player who leaves nothing to chance, and it's this rigor that makes him a feared adversary in the Critical League.
Nicole
RBY OU
Nicole is a skilled and talented player, who is on the doorstep of SPL, being very close to being picked in next year’s edition. A recent winner of the RBY Summer Seasonal in 2023, she has made a name for herself in a community dominated by titans. Already a feat in itself. But she'll have to do even more to ensure that her name is remembered as a great RBY player. And like all 1G tournaments for the past decade, the Critical League will see the indomitables of the Tier kill each other off. If Nicole manages to survive, it'll be one more line to add to her CV.
Akaru Kokuyo
VGC
Akaru is an experienced VGC player with a respectable track record. He won two regional championships, in 2015 and 2016, showing a consistent mastery of competitive play. In 2016, Akaru also added a mid-season championship title to his credit and finished as a national finalist, underlining his ability to perform at the highest level. His track record puts him among the players to watch, whether that will be enough against the top 3 from hell in his pool remains to be seen.
Xrn
PnB
An ultra-versatile player, Xrn proves it once again by signing up for the PnB slot in this CCL. Capable of boasting a 9-1 record in Doubles during the 2023 SCL, then following up with a very solid 6-3 record in SV during the 2024 SPL, there's no reason why this tournament shouldn't be another success for him. Xrn draws his motivation from each new challenge he faces. He defined himself as a “PnB enjoyer”, so it's not impossible that he'll splash the tournament with all his talent.
